Cruise Control - WHICH PIN? ** UPDATE** - coding?

Might have to ask PVR for some help as my Dutch isnt up to scratch

Also I think it's the old 3 litre engine as well which doesnt really help, except we can only hope that ours deonst need coding either. :(

Sorry I'm jumping into this a bit late (that broken DME thread was mine)!

I had exactly the same result as you J - connected up to pin 39 (which was vacant) and went for a drive and nothing.

So I too would be really interested to see what happens if you've taken it to the stealers?

Currently I have a very expensive bit of additional furniture on my steering column doing nothing, and I haven't had time to do anything about it since I first had a go a couple of months ago!

Thanks for getting back to us
NO i havent and wont goto the dealers for this as i can only imagine the kinda response im going to get "why of course it needs coding sir". I dont trust dealers - sorry!

Did you get your DME fixed or is it just how it was - with PIN 39 broken? See if its still broken - you never know, it COULD have worked it if was NOT broken :poke:

I think we need to speak to somebody on here who knows a dealer techie well to have a proper tech talk with that person vs somebody on the parts desk where you may or may not get a knowledgable person...

Hi J,

Sorry, I misread your post about going to the stealers in the same way that hutch did!

I still haven't got my DME fixed yet. The pin only broke off half way down so it may still be making contact with the socket in the plug. I'm planning on testing it by putting some tape over the plug on the DME, then plugging it and and removing it to see if the pin has pierced the tape. If it has then it may be long enough to make contact with the socket and hopefully doesn't need repairing. But if there's no hole then I know it needs to be sent off.

But if we do find out for certain that it is in fact pin 26 instead of 39 then it's all good.

We need peartreeproductions to open up his DME and see what the stealers did. Did he ever get back to you J?

Cheers all.

Hi

No, nothng back from peartreeproductions yet
Sounds like you have a plan - do post with your results as at least it will mean we both are at the same stalling point :)

I also checked out pin 26 like you did and noticed it was already occupied - dont want to start merging wires or anything until we have confirmation really do we!!!

peartreeproductions holds the vital secrets!

What if he finds it went into pin 39? hummmm coding!!!!

Jamie

Just checked my PM box and noticed that my PM to peartreeproductions is still in my outbox - is this because his inbox is full?

I'm not sure actually - might just mean he hasn't read it yet for some reason...

The strange thing is I think the reason peartree went to his dealer was because he said when we went to connect it up the pin was already occupied... So whether that means his pin 39 was occupied or he was referring to 26 I don't know.

By the way, when we're talking about pin 26 instead of pin 39, this is pin 26 on a different plug yes? i.e. the one that has 26 pins (not 44)?

back up back up on here a minutes!!!

I was just on about pin 26 and 39 on the SAME 44 pin plug
So this 26 pin plug is back in the game ......

Jamie - Message stuck in outbox just means they havent been collected yet.

Looking at the PDF gannet put up the DME X60002 is a 26 pin black plug and you need to connect to pin 4, but it is easy to read wrong and read it as pin 26 is the one to connect to.

You're right indeed - didn't have those instructions to hand. But don't get too excited J - pin 4 has something in it as well! :(

Just phoned an Indi near work and they have quoted around £35+vat for coding. He didnt confirm either way 100% if it is required, but I have a feeling we havent got a choice. :(

I agree, but with so many failing to get it working, 100% failure rate so far I think it doesnt look good. :(
