If you want to save the £75 expense of buying a new lower cowling (comes part of the kit) then the original needs to be cut out to match the profile of the cruise control switch that it then slots back around. Good news is that the exact cutting line is on it as a moulding mark.
Of course the switch itself is just a click in fit and attach the harness.
Ben - regardless of the build date which is only approximate for the harness, then I would undo the single screw of the lower housing drop it down and look for the harness. It will be a small plug to the left of the column close to the other stalk. It may be tied up or tucked away. If you have it great. If not you need the retrofit kit or harness.
