cruise control, am i being an idiot?

With the clip - take it out.. blow in the end of it, and then push it back in till it CLICKS!
Mine didn't go all the way in first time (DONT be dirty forum!) and then when it did, it still didnt work as I had age old dust build up inside it.

a quick blow, then pushed it all the way in (again forum!) until it clicked - then it worked perfectly.

it can feel a little tight, but trust me, when it's all the way in (three times in one post is bad...) it'll definately click and then you should be good.

as the rest have said, get to about 30-40 and HOLD it at a constant speed.
Then, push the lever away from you (towards the bonnet and dash) for a brief moment.
you need to push it as far forward as it goes, then release... total hold time should be around a second!

and that's it.. you should be cruising!

Right i drove from taunton to bournmouth. (top down of course)

still doesnt work.. im goint to try blowing etc (ooo matron) and making sure its properly plugged in .

It only has 3 wires going into it? is that right?

p.s. if anyone fancies a blat around the new forest area tomorrow afternoon/evening im keen.

There will be a whole bunch of Z cars at Beaulieu tomorrow including me, PVR, gannet, flimper to name but 4 so keep your eyes peeled.

I do think it's worth checking that the plug is in all the way. There's certainly no harm in giving it a good push :?

C'mon - get a grip and get this working. It's only marginally harder than opening the door. The suspense is killing me.

On a more practical note if it's not working then there are 3 alternatives that I see:

1) check the wiring at the other end of the loom to ensure it's connected correctly. I have the retrofit pdf that show's where the wires from the loom connect if you pm me for it.
2) Take it to the dealer or an Indy to see if it's throwing an error or needs coding (which the manuals says, but I think that's just a money makign ruse and never heard of it being meeded.
3) Swap out the switch with another used where it's known to work to eliminate that.

Bet he's got several of those laying about....... :poke:

it's killing me too.... :(

just being dragged around a car boot sale by my gran. will check connections when I'm back.

on a side note why do people think that other idiots will want their 15yr old junk? it's mental. my gran, bless her, has brought a flat football and gta3 for my 8 yr old brother. I'm not sure she realises what it's about

Cruise control was going to be my next mod - But reading this thread i might just go for the half brick balanced on the pedal approach :?

right ive taken it out again, cleaned both plugs and pushed it back in really hard..

ive also cut the cable off the main run to give it a bit more slack just incase it was pulling it out

will report back when i get back to taunton..

its really fucking annoying.
