Classic shaped TT's in decent spec, namely 225 quattro and above are most definitely macho, lovely to drive, excellent build quality, lots of mechanical and technical stuff going on out of view, but not a lot to get the hairs standing up on the back of your neck, just competent, quick, stylish daily transport IMHO ( having loved one for 5 years). :
sorry did i just read "excellent build quality" in that sentence. Are you having a laugh?. i bought one (and a few of my mates did) and they were all complete piles of german shi*. the most unreliable car i have ever owned. in fact, i had a word with an Audi technician at a main dealership when i took mine in for the 8th time in less than 8 months, who even admitted to me on the quiet that they work on TT's more than any other audi.
The dashpod problem was the biggest joke of all, even made BBC watchdog, that combined with the audi dealers made the overall experience a nightmare.
i agree with the comments regarding the looks, i do still like them and the interior still looks good, but for reliability - forget it. if your was reliable, then you were one of the very few lucky ones.
