I worked at FedEx for ten years. It is the responsibility of the person receiving the goods to inspect them. And no matter how much of a hurry the driver is in. They are required to wait while the inspection takes place.

I agree, but at the same time should the driver not tell the person not to sign without opening the package first? I know the document says arrived in good condition but 9 times out of 10 the courier puts the package down and says "please sign here". How many times have you seen a courier say "please open the package, inspect it, then sign that it is in good order"?

... bloody couriers!

The truth is that at fedex the lorries were unloaded, And the delivery vans were loaded by dock workers. Unless the damage to the package is very obvious the driver may not even see it. At fedex If the delivery drivers saw a damaged package they were trained to alert the customer. We would rather have a few claims than lose customers.

At the same time we as customers need to be proactive. Would one be inclined to buy a car without inspecting it first?

Cheers

It is the 100% responsibility of the buyer to either:

(a) inspect the goods at the time of delivery and refuse them if they are damaged to the courier company

(b) write on the delivery receipt/handheld scribbler 'received but not inspected'

If the buyer of the goods fails on these two counts & finds damage later, it's their loss, not the sellers. Ebay however tend to find in the favour of the buyer unless the seller can proove their innocence, and sometimes even prooving your innocence you still get stuffed.

Hmm i have paid to get them back to me by tomorrow so if it's gonna cost alot I will refurb them again and give him a refund! And sell for more :) or if the wheels are only slightly damaged I may see if they can be touched up by a pro mobile wheel refurber - may be cheaper :)

Slightly off topic, but can I ask where you got them refurbished as I'm looking to get my 108s done in the near future.

Had a callaway razr hawk driver cost £329 (this is a golf club) deliverd by I think city link when I opend the box, after the courier had gon and the shaft was broken in half. I rang the supplier (the golf shop online) they told me no problem and they would send a new one that day, all I had to do was return the broken one at no cost to me and they would claim from the courier. They told me they never have a problem with claims.
