1. What is the wallet key for that comes with the car? I tried mine this morning and it unlocks the car door but when I open the car door the car alarm off goes off.
John, the alarm goes off because the Spare key (plastic) does not disable the alarm. If you unlock your car with the spare key after setting the alarm with your normal key, all you need to do is put the spare key in the ignition and turn to position 2 to disable the alarm. All BMWs that I have owned are like that.
Here is a blurb from the manual:
The key set
1 Master keys with remote control –
determine the functions of the Key
Memory, refer to page 37.
You can mark individual keys for subsequent
identification by applying the colored
decals that you received when
accepting delivery of your vehicle
There is an extended-life battery
in every master key that is
charged automatically in the ignition
lock as you drive.
For this reason, if you have a master key
with remote control that is otherwise
not used, use that key approximately
once a year while driving for an
extended period to charge the battery.<
2 Spare key for storage in a safe place,
such as in your wallet.
This key does no open the lock of the
luggage compartment lid – useful for
valet parking, for example.
This key is not intended for constant
use
