Couple of odd jobs

A couple of odd jobs undertaken today....

First off in preparation of these new indicator badges from Buckley06 (What's happening with those anyway? I'm like a kid on Xmas eve!) I trimmed down the side indicators for a tidier finish.

Literally hacked the little buggers in half....

Hard to capture on camera but they look better in person....

Next up will be a divider and I have to admit I unashamedly robbed this idea straight from idej_z4. Wasn't so sure at first but after a little umm'ing and ahh'ing I'm pretty happy with the result.

New Kidney Grilles to match my ZunSport lower ///M grille...

Nice work.

I could have saved you some time on the indicators though. I drove into my garage a few weeks back and cut one of mine clean in half in seconds. Happily I mist the rest of he Zed :D

You probably did a better job of it than I did too

thanatu55. What did you use to stick the half cut lens back onto the base?

Well, that was a bit of an ordeal to be honest! The first thing I tried was a two part plastic epoxy glue and it was useless. Still wet 24 hours later and a b***h to get clean again.

So I went for this stuff instead https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B019CXIO1C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1...

Far easier to use! Roll it into two long sausages and press around the edges of the base, then push the clear top piece into the mold and leave to set. It says it sets in 5 mins but I'd leave it the full 24 hours to cure.

Has it held?
Is it strong enough to be able to twist the whole indicator off for bulb changing?

It was strong enough to twist on, I haven't tried twisting it back off but I'll give it a go in the morning when it's had the full time to cure. I only have one in at the moment, the other I'm keeping indoors overnight so I'll have a better idea of how well it holds tomorrow.

This is interesting. I'm still in the middle of a indicator mod myself... other things have taken priority!
Good to know how the unibond held up! As above, it's the twist action of removing I'm worried about.

I was wondering the same, although I know he was due to go away end of last week? It's actually half of my (chopped up) indicator that formed the tiemplate to make Buckleys alu ones! :)

I like the look of those chopped up indicators.......just got to be brave enough to chop up my newly ordered clear lenses before the buckly covers turn up :)

Buckley was let down by the anodisers and only received them last Wednesday which just happened to be the day he was going on holiday so bear with him. I'm waiting on mine too! :-)

Thanks for the update

FYI if you add Baking powder to super glue, it will harden & bond 10x stronger.

Let’s just say they use this technique to mend chips in helicopter rotor blades, sanding down the excess...

Google it if you want to know more
