I thought the roadster was slightly faster 0 to 60 but the coupe faster on track
And I'm sure the suspension feels much harder in the coupe due to the much stiffer chassis.
I can't believe you don't have a preference, for me it was coupe or nothing for many on here it's top down motoring that swings it. Try to test drive one of each preferably on the same day
 
all the time i had the roadster; deep down i always had the feeling it came second ( for me ) to the coupe, in fact when i decided to sell the z3mr my choices were z3m coupe, z4mc or z4mr, its totally down to which gives you that thrill most, the other point is which ever you chose, most of our cars are weekend toys so we keep the thrill and excitement everytime we drive them rather than the experience becoming more normal if a car is a daily driver, half of the enjoyment is the tinkering and the fettling, the polishing , and the anticipation of trying various little mods to improve the faux pas bmw obviously built in on purpose to bewilder and frustrate us sometimes beyond belief and turn us into obsessive waterproof coat wearers , but most of us probably wouldnt have it any other way , and i hope the politicians and green lobby never win their quest to make soul cars obsolete and stick us all in a prius :driving:
 
Although its 0-60mph in 4.8 for both I think you would struggle to get it there time after time.

Its purely down to taste and if you have sense the coupe is the only option :P

After owning the coupe for a few months, I'm finding the scuttle shake in my cab quite noticeable. (don't know how the zr compares).
Both coupe and roadsters have their benefits, but loving the coupe right now.

Scuttle shake in the Z4MC? You've got to be joking :!: The chassis is one of the stiffest out there. Don't you mean the bloody awful suspension: something completely different?

Personally, I'd never have a rag top. One of the reasons being many years ago, I was stopped at some traffic lights in a car with a fully open sunroof, and a pissed Wino on the pavement came up to my car with bottle in hand and said, "have a drink with me" and he then poured half a bottle of sherry into the car and over me! Never again! :evil:
 
I find there is hardly any discernable scuttle shake in a Z4M R so the coupe must be stiffer..

Suspension is always going to be your bug bear John... I dont find it too bad after coming from a 911 which was truly awful...

I do find the back end can get a bit "hoppy" under hard acceleration like its way too oversprung..Maybe a set of H&R's will quiten it down some

how auite is thje pram top on long journeys? THe coupé makes an OK mini GT, it does look fab all the time and is rarer vbut I rekon the pram top drivers get to enjoy there car more of the time driving at normal speeds.

I'd get a red convertible, looks the biz.

we all know that many roadster owners up grade to the coupe but as any coupe owner ever down graded to the roadster?

I love roadsters, couldn't be without one and when the 'M' goes then I'll get an MX5 to carry on enjoying open top motoring.

The Z4M roadster is however an excellent GT car and the suspension set up as standard is better suited to the variety of UK roads than the coupe which is a little too harsh IMO. That was also the general opinion of reviewers when the cars came out.

The coop is a stunning looking car especially with a set of CSLs to set off it's lines. However, you loose little in refinement if you drive a roadster with the roof up and you get to put the roof down when weather allows and enjoy that engine full force!

So it's the roadster that's the sensible choice! :)
