Coupe or convertible

Well I haven't got a Zed YET but I am getting a train on Saturday to go and pick mine up and yes it's a roadster the only one to get, I just recently sold my MX5 and I would have that roof down on a crisp freezing winters day as there is nothing more intoxicating than open top motoring, I just can't wait to get it and I will have around a 2 and a half hour drive home hopefully with the top down listening to that 3.0 noise :) so the roadster is the only way to go.

Sounds like the roadster is where it's at. I want to go look at this coupe though. If ti speaks to me, maybe. If not, I'll continue on my hunt. There's not many z4's around here, especially int he summer. I'd like to be in one before the weather turns to sh*t though.

I wanted a Roadster from the get go, mine is only a fair weather 2nd car, but over the Winter months I have found myself yearning for a Coupe, they are great looking cars, but now the weather has turned here in the UK and after my 440 mile hoon at the weekend with the guys in 25'C + temp I'm back in Roadster mode again!!!

Until the Autumn.............. :D

The Coupe can get two sets of golf clubs in the boot. Beware though, the M Roadster and Coupe have part of their boot space taken up with the compressor, tyre gel and toolkit because they came as standard with non run-flat tyres.

I've had both so I am relatively neutral on this topic. If you are the sort of person who would love to drive without a roof in warm weather then buy a Roadster but if like me you're not that bothered then a Coupe is a better bet. Sounds obvious but there have been lots of people asking this same question over the years!

the benefits of the larger boot means I don't miss my roadster also no worries about the roof getting damaged or motor breaking

drive both..then decide, in summer the roadster is awesome but come winter you'll be thinking wish I got a coupe :fuelfire:

I've owned both and loved both.

If you've never owned a roadster then I'd go for that one.

Like others have said, there is nothing like blasting down a country road on a nice summers evening with the sun going down. (p.s the Sun isn't another term for my other half)

We do seem to get a bit more roadster abuse from other jealous drivers in this county though.

After thinking about it more, I'm actually leaning towards hte coupe now. I used to race auto cross as well as dirt tracks, I'm a racecar driver at heart and always loved go-fast machines. While I love the look of the roadster, I'm also growing to love the look of the coupe, perhaps even more.

You will still see both at BMW dealers check out the BMW Approved List.. So go and try a couple...

When you go to the list sort by price.... choose lowest

nasomi, welcome to the forum...
The coupe is even more rare on this side of the pond as most of them went to the UK. Don't let cold winters be a reason not to get a roadster as the roadster with the top up is warm, dry and quite comfortable in even sub zero weather.

 funny thing about roadsters, they have a roof as well so you can put it down or up, simples!

Either - you won't regret it. Recommend you drive a few then you'll know when you've found THE one :)

If your at all self conscious don't buy the roadster.

People will look at you.

Potentially inaccurate judgements will be formed and shared at you.

Fortunately for me I am a gay hairdresser having a mid-life crisis, am balding and trying to recapture my youth and don't mind people not letting me out at T-junctions because they are jealous of my roof down flash git potential.

Generally people will not know what the coupe is, so its more subtle and less likely to suffer verbal or thought abuse.

I couldn't afford the coupe but dream of a silver one in m variation, the rear three quarter view is so stylish and those four hard pipes damn sexy.

i didnt think a roadster would see much roof down time in this climate, im surprised both by how many times i get the roof down, (always unless its raining) and what a different experience it is - roof down is such a different driving experience to a normal car. My wife "got" the convertible bug this week and everytime i have been to get in the car, I have have been left in the Discovery.

We may not have the Z4 forever (although i dont think there are better looking roadsters in that price range) but i do think we will always have a roadster in the family now

I do think if you have never owned a convertible it's worth buying one to experience to joys of top down motoring so at least you can say you have tried one, mine only lasted 5 months as I just realised it wasn't really me & with hindsight I wished I had gone with the coupe.

I do believe you are either a coupe man/women or a convertible man/women there isn't an inbetween.
