Could be my first Z4

Hello everyone,

I've been looking at another 2 seater since selling the MX5 a few years ago, wedding and house move all done now so starting to look at getting a weekend toy again. It's going to be an E85 and although i would prefer a 3.0 or a 2.5 nothing is for sale within 100 odd miles that doesn't have really high mileage. I drive a diesel rep mobile for work so I think the 2.0 will be fine, going to test drive this during the week :)

It's a 57 plate, 47000 miles, 2.0i and comes with good service history.

Hi & Welcome
I wouldn't be scared of high mileage if it comes with a good history, especially if its going to be a weekend toy, there are may z`s out there people are driving heading towards 150,000 miles, gives you a lot more choice, I would take a 3.0 with double that mileage over the 2.0, but that's just my preference.

good luck with your search

That car with a 3.0i would be the bollox. Love the individual interior. For what it's worth I had a 2.0i sport and sorry but it was lacklustre, I've also driven the 2.5i(not Si) and that was a bit better. Travel bud a try a 3.0i,2.5si or 3.0si, before committing.
Just my point of view ofcourse.
D

keep an eye on the for sale section here, at least you'll know the cars been treated right!
high miles doesn't mean problems, the m54 is solid (the n52 not as much, but avoid short trips and pick one up with a new ish water pump)
make sure the suspension's had a bit of an overhaul and you're laughing

Welcome to the forum OP.

That is a lovely looking Z4, but I'm not sure I would go for a 2.0i - I doubt it would feel noticeably quicker than your MX5.

For me a straight 6 N/A petrol engine is one of the Z4s unique features.

And as has been said I wouldn't worry unduly about higher mileage models. Mine is on 86K now, and my 325i Touring (same engine as a 2.5Si Z4) is on 133K!

Good luck finding the right one - whichever you go for.

Welcome aboard. Love the interior on that one. I wouldn't worry too much about a leggy Zed. As long as the history is good and it looks clean. They take the miles well.

Having driven a 2.0 and my 2.5si, there's a huge difference between them. The 2.5si is similar up until about 4000 revs and then takes off like a scalded cat, while the 2.0 is much more progressive and consequently not as quick or as much fun!

Keep looking for. 2.5si as a minimum, they are there to be found 😀

Make sure it's a straight six - I have had a few... M30, M20, M50, M57 and now an M54... The sound is glorious and acceleration is silky smooth... It really is worth waiting and finding a good one!

Thanks for all the replies everyone, all very good advice to take on board with regards to the 2.0 version..

So today we picked up a rather nice 2006 3.0Si and so glad we were advised to try the bigger engine as the noise is amazing. :driving:

My wife had the drivers seat for the 150 mile drive back in glorious sunshine and when I took over for the last few miles it poured down but still brilliant fun.

I've a few things planned for the car but cant wait to enjoy it for the time being :D

Glad you went for a 3.0Si - it's a great engine!

And a white E85 is pretty rare - looks great.

We'll done bud. She looks a stunner.

Sweet!
Similar wheels to mine, but I have added BMW centre caps. The bigger engine ones are just so much fun.

We've been up in Northumbria for the weekend and blasting around the lanes and past the Sunday drivers has been so much fun :driving:

Nice one, the center caps on mine are non standard I think so will need to look at replacing them with standard ones :)

Someone spent some £s on her mate. Drilled n grooved discs. Sweet.

Yeah there has been lots of money spent, all service/MOT flawless and i'm trying to find out whats all been changed. I know the alloys/headlights/brakes(sure he said they were Brembo??/stereo (Kenwood) /K&N panel filter have all been changed along with the white wrap from a previous owner(it's going to possibly be removed back to standard yellow, or maybe re-wrapped as I love the white) but I love everything about this car.
