Cough syncope

Does anybody have any experience or know anyone with cough syncope...?

Second time it's happened now in 4 months. I'm assuming it's this reading about it, you suddenly cough violently, pass out then you wake up on the floor with your salmon and lime miso sauce all over you..... :roll:

Docs in the morning and I'm crapping myself they'll say I can't drive for months after an episode. If so I'm fucked, I drive 11 miles over the moors to get to my new workshop so public transport is out of the question.

Any info at all I'd be very grateful.

Worst thing is if I can't drive, that'll mean £830 pcm to store very expensive blasting equipment that's not getting used. That and I'll go round the flaming twist...! :( :cry:

Anyway we'll see.
 
You are certainly not having much luck over the years health wise.

Not heard of this one either though, but good luck with that. Not relating to your lung problems?
 
John, this is a serious suggestion, presuming your health allows, what about a bike for getting too/from the workshop and if terrain too bad what about an eBike mountain bike if the worst comes to the worst?

That's a very good idea Andy...! I've got a mountain bike but it's too far to cycle everyday and on roads with a mountain bike. It's all on roads but over the moors, lovely drive to and from, no queing traffic and very little up there, no wagons or buses, so an e bike would work well. Top man, great idea. :thumbsup:
 
John, sorry mate but if you pass out (Lose consciousness) then you will not be allowed to drive until passed fit again by a doctor. You may not have to surrender your license, as in send it back, but you will not be allowed to drive until passed fit.

Urghhhhh that's what I thought Scubes....I'm right in the middle of moving workshops too, got a telehandler booked to rent from tomorrow.....what a chuffing chuff up.... :x

Do you need a driving licence for an e motorbike Andy...? I wouldn't drive my van anyway as I don't want to hurt anyone else, but an e bike on pretty much deserted roads should be ok I think.

Sorry for you health problems John. If you are think of buying an e-bike, do your research and buy from a specialist. Halfords will fix you up with a cheap and heavy starter bike like the one Argyll Andy linked to, but there may be better options out there for you.
 
John, like others sorry to hear about your issues, whilst I'm not a medical doctor, I do work for a major health authority and I am in work this morning. I took the liberty of asking a couple of our consultants about the condition you describe.

Its a relatively common condition that seems to affect people, typically with other underlying conditions.

There is an association between this condition and COVID-19, so it may be associated with your recent infection. There are anecdotal reports of drivers suffering this condition. I'm not au fait with the regulations but understand its a disqualifying condition and will need a period of time (maybe 6 months) if it is confirmed to be this condition.

A specialist will need to do a differential diagnosis and quite a few tests to reach a diagnosis, cause and assessment.
 
FFS pal your dropping to bits. Hope they say it's nowt and you can carry on as you please, if not then like you say it could be the push iron or even a taxi if it means you losing work :wink:
