I've just had to replaces a DSC sensor as I have been getting the usual two yellow warning lights coming on intermittently, and I've an MOT booked for tomorrow so wanted to make sure it was done prior to that as I didn't want to risk the lights coming on and an MOT failure because of that. No problem with getting a sensor and fitting it.

Then it was on to a brake bleed, wanted the car up on 4 axle stands but my jack doesn't lift high enough to lift from the rear point and get an axle stand under the front jacking point. So jacked from the front points and placed an axle stand under each front wishbone, then jacked front the rear centre where the bracing meets and got another two jacks under each rear jack point. Then bled brakes using a vacuum bleeder - all nice and straightforward

Put the wheels back on and went for a slow jaunt around the block to checkout the brakes, and noticed a horrible grinding sound - moving slowly ascertained it was coming from the offside front, got out, couldn't see any reason - continued slowly around the block and back onto the drive and Cindy heard me coming and said that the front offside wheel appeared to be 'wobbling'

Jacked up that side and wheel wont turn, the top of the wheel is making contact with the shock - removed wheel, small scoring mark on the shock and the very edge of the alloy rim has had the paint scraped off - looks like I've rubbed it all the way around with sandpaper.

The hub itself rotates freely so it appears that the jacks have caused the wishbone to bend/move and moved the bottom of the wheel out slightly - bugger :headbang:

That does sound odd. As above I've done the same a few times with no issues.

I Feel for you though Perry, hope its not too expensive to sort out.

I think you have just been really unlucky Perry, I have done the same with no issues. I feel your pain and really hope you get it sorted quickly and without too much expense.

I think it's odd too but I can't see what else could have caused it - axle stands were in exactly the same place on both sides but only the offside is affected.

Given the linkages to the wheel, the only way I can see this happening is if the wishbone has either bent or shifted outwards. The lollypop end is fixed but I suppose it's possible that the fixed stud/bolt at the angle of the wishbone has bent - either that or the camber has changed because of the stresses of getting it up on jackstands, I've had it up in the air a number of times but only front or rear never all four cornerd

It hasn't shifted much as there's not a lot of clearance between the top of the wheel and the shock - on the nearside front wheel I can just squeeze my fingers into the gap but it's painfully tight

Think you're right, but would have thought the bend would have pulled the bottom in forcing the wheel further away from the shock.

I think I've found the problem - I'm a fecking idiot :headbang:

You put a rear wheel on the front didn't you :poke:

Cindy had just got home and was talking to me and I obviously wasn't paying attention - you may all call me ten types of pratt, I deserve it

Haven't I said this before? You are my witnesses to his admission of him being a pratt but I still love him

OK best not to panic  , with no comments as yet its safe to say PVR & Bing have not seen this schoolboy error so if everyone on the thread deletes their post in backward order you could get away with this & therefore not have to carry forward any of the shame you will ultimately have to live through for a good while to come

Lol, when I had 108s it took me a year to relise I put them back together the wrong way around :o , I was running spacers so it wasn't really an issue on the front.
