Coolant in oil sump

My daughter and I are trying to revive our 2004(ish) Z4.

We are getting coolant in the main engine oil sump. (and then the car overheats).

What are the likely causes of this?

It sounds as though the cylinder head gasket is leaking coolant across it into an oil gallery. You will usually see 'mayo' on your dipstick and inside the oil filler cap. The overheating will likely be due to the reduced amount of coolant in the cooling system.

X1 .you will need to have the head skimmed and pressure checked when you have it off the car
