Complete Noob - With Photos!

dan_i where did you end up in Turkey? I love the place from 2 visits and the roads are amongst the best I have ever seen in my life. I have only ever been in a hire car there but now have the opportunity to take my own. Expect pictures of archeaological ruins with blue BMWs sometime soon!

We were in Marmaris, lovely and chavy lol. I did notice the roads on the way down there, while on the transfer coach, kinda of twisty hillside road.....although not great in the middle of the night, on a coach :|

Most of the Western side and interior seems to be connected up by brand new highways these days. Huge things with tiny tolls. Straight as you like in the main with wonderful turns up through mountains - and always a lane for passing lorries on the uphill. I found them so deserted I could take the 'racing line' almost wherever I went.

They were empty, new, and didn't have to lie in ditches like in the UK because there were no towns to avoid for noise polution, views were great...
