Yes they should devote their time to helping one eared people instead.
 
I saw them also, they got very excitable as I accelerated to pass a cyclist (went from 10 to 25mph). They must just have been annoyed to have 20+ sports cars pass them with no speeding.

Yes, they could walk alongside them holding their glasses up.

Tbh, the community speed watch, done in the right place is no bad thing. The little bastard chavs roar up and down the lane where I live. I've seen unmarked police cars here occasionally, nicking them which is always satisfying.
 
My point exactly Stu, if I were to get caught driving enthusiastically, I'd expect what would follow... not be shafted on purpose, we'll see what comes of it

What "proof" do they have, or is it simply a case that they take note of your speed and pass on a spreadsheet to the police?

In other words, could they, in theory, just fabricate your speed?

Nothing will come of it at all. The police need to be there to prosecute. They'll only take an interest if you start getting regularly pinged and they're sending letters, then you'll find a lot of unmarked cars in your area, or uniformed out with the CSW people so they can confirm and if needs be, prosecute.

Just relax and forget about it.
