Community Speed Watch

Have you ever seen a camera near a school? I have not, and the reason being that it would not work there as noone is exceeding the limit there anyway. They are almost always in areas where the speed limit has been set too low or which were just reduced.

There are places to drive fast and there are places to drive sensibly. I drive really slow down my road and my neighbourhood - then as soon as I hit the country lanes I punch the accelerator...

Most people can decide themselves where it's safe to exceed the posted speed limit and will drive at a speed that they feel comfortable.

Most cameras are not positioned where they'd reduce casualties, but rather where they'll not be spotted and where they'll catch the most 'offenders'.

I've never been caught by a camera, and only twice been caught by radar/laser - and one of those times was when the limit went from 70mph to 60mph to 40mph over the course of a week (i was doing 62mph in what I assumed was still a 60mph).

To be honest, if you get flashed by one of the big yellow camera's then you must be thick.

Or unprotected by warning devices.

In a way it is quite funny - we have the funds to buy the equipment to warn us of the cameras, whilst the typical Labour voting lot does not so they get "taxed" by the people they voted in :D

.....or in a city you don`t know while looking for some place you`ve never been to while running 15mins late  Luckily they let me off that one when I explained the situation by letter
