These are cropping up everywhere near Leicestershire. I drive through one every morning, and every morning the old sods in their garden chairs with a flask of tea point their gun at my car.

Now, I haven't done this yet, but after a bit of research, they only send a warning letter, followed by a second and third letter. After this you become a 'target' for the police???!!! Either way, flying past them with a huge grin on my face would make my day so much better . . . anyone got an opinion?

:driving:

1,When you get near him tape over your plates and Drive like the stig.
2, drive slowley past him, park up and get out of your car with a camera and stand in front of him taking HIS picture

They always shake so much with their gun that they have not managed to get a reading of my Z. Or was that because of something else

Stopping and taking a few shots of them is a great idea. All the better if you have a nice big SLR to make it obvious what's happening. I 'm half-hoping they set one up near me so I can do it myself.

Taking some pics and video of them may annoy them a wee bit. Worth a go.

Could also stop and have a chat with them and see whether or not they can actually produce any facts about speed killing/injuring anyone on that particular road. Was speed the only contributory factor etc. Was this proven?

How about getting some deckchairs yourself and going along with some of your mates/family and sitting in front of them with a picnic etc blocking their view? If they can sit there then so can you.

This whole speed thing really winds me up as I'm sure it does most folk on here.

The amount of terrible and dangerous driving I see every single day that goes unpunished is unbelievable yet all that seems to get tackled by the government is speeding as that can raise revenue.

Get more traffic police out on the roads who can use their judgement in a given situation and reduce the amount of speed cameras.

Ha Ha, i knew this thread would get you guys talking.

Camera is a great idea, i have a big SLR woop!

Well, its on a b road, national limit for all of it except one 60-100 meter section which is 30! The houses are really set back from the road and unless your a complete idiot, there is more than enough distance either side to view oncoming traffic. It's basically a bunch of old fuddy, men/women. Pretty sure next time i'm going to slow right down till im along side them, take a photo and then absolutely floor it hopefully kicking up some dust for their packet lunch !

ggrrrrr, people with no lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :headbang:

Where are they - i am in coalville due to come up through Ashby tomorrow?

Might take the 350Z, they will love a slow drive by with that exhaust and sound system - might send them deaf, or at least give them something to moan about

I am curious to how they get your address?

You must be use to speed cameras around ashby there are loads of them. I go to a friends up in Macclesfield just under 60 miles and go through 28 speed cameras if i come up through ashby/burton way

Also a thought might stop and ask to see their calibration certificate for their little toy.

Sorry - but seen this with a different view.
I think we should all find out how to get hold of these speed guns and gun / report those that are driving too slowly. Slow driving is more dangerous than speeding, so we could then report the blue rinse brigade, get them off the road and enjot ourselves more.
Just an idea.

I LOVE the idea of taking pics of these people!!!!!

One of these days one of these nosey parkers are going to get their arse kicked and then maybe the police will reconsider this idea...

Well, it's a country road between ashby and heather. It's a short cut to the a447 from ashby de la zouch. And yes, burton on Trent is bloody ridiculous for cameras! Another community watch is on the road from barwell to Hinckley in Leicestershire. Guys, I will upload a photo if they are there Monday morning. Ha ha! :driving:

I know where, I use to live on the main road coming into heather from measham and the traffic could be quite fast, but then they stuck speed humps in and the traffic noise got really bad, lots more braking and revving, odd bit of fast traffic was far better, most people slowed when they got to the first houses as our cars where parked out there anyway, they spent £1000s and made it worse we had to park further down, two nasty accidents, one in particular was a motorcycle that had to brake hard to avoid the first hump, right mess, more accidents with all those safety features :x I moved.

You guys are just around the corner from me, I'm in Whitwick

The thing that makes me get my sensible head on is when I come by one of these signs that flash your speed, it's a bit like a reminder but leaves the decision up to you.

Feel sorry for the crinklies with the cameras thoughh, man I would hope that I would have a thousand other things to do before that, including emptying the cat litter !!!

Maybe you should buy them an xbox, or a highland bus tour ticket

The signs that show how fast your going do 2 things for me. They make me slow down in normal driving, but if im trying out a new performance mod, i use them as a terminal speed indication between the sign and a fixed starting point!!!

I will wave next time i see you, always feel a bit daft a women in car waving at some strange man. That is if i am not too busy watching out for old codgers with hairdryers

Agree with the warning signs we have two coming into the main bardon road in coalville near where i live, just makes you think, also no mad late breaking to avoid speed traps and painfully slow first gear driving over speed bumps. I find the smaller ones spaced out across the road the worse, not quite found a way to negioate them well, slighlty too wide to go for the over the middle route and one wheel one i am sure does the car no good. We have some nasty accident on that road, mainly becase of the quarry and loads of kids crossing, so to be fair it needs something and the speed warning seems to have cut the accidents down.

LOL @ the self righteous old bastard pommies..... Isn't there some privacy laws that would prevent them from getting your address based on your numberplate ?
