So this £4800 car is the car you offered me for £6500 the other day.
Is that how it works on this forum?

Lynchy said:Yep, but before you go off on one its a project car for me as it needs work and then hopefully I'll sell it on
Machine monkey said:Not being funny! But Eddie has brought a car that needs work! He is in the body work repair industry ( I know he has fixed my car to a great standard!) so he fixes it using his hard earned skills! Then sells it at market value?
Why shouldn’t he do this? Should electricians or plumbers work for free?
I don’t think it’s an issue of community it’s just a guy taking on a gamble using his skill set. Trying to earn some cash? Isn’t it what we all try and do at work?

Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting this to be a community where members were looking to make a quick profit off each other. That’s not how other enthusiast forums I’m a member of operate, or not obviously anyway.
I know better now, so as you were.

The issue is the forum rules imply items purchased via the forum can't be sold for a profit.
We've had the discussion regarding vehicle values and resale and its a bit of a Grey area, I guess.
Nictrix said:This is where I don't get the whole not selling for profit on the forum if its bought from the forum.
If you buy a car this year and for whatever reason the prices go through the roof the next year why shouldn't you be able to make a profit.
The fact it was possibly bought from the forum and then sold on the forum shouldn't really matter as long as the buyer is happy with what they are paying.
Why shouldn't something like this not be allowed where a car is put back to good condition for a small profit.

Lynchy said:Without shying away from this, the car needs work ie servicing, a replacement wheel a front wing repaint and I'm sure a few other bits. No one had showed any interest so I contracted the seller and a price was agreed. I was honest with him what I wanted the car for and he wasn't bothered. In hindsight I should've done the work and then offered it up for sale.

If you can’t get that buying a car with issues. Fixing them and making it a better car! Shouldn’t require more money? I don’t think we could possibly even to begin to discus the point?!
