lol... with the greatest respect I can see this thread turning into the usual 'look how many miles I get'... it wasn't meant to be, it was more a 'its getting cold and my car is using more juice'![]()

Sorry didn't mean to start anything. For me not stopping at the start of the M6 is a first! On the way up I was working out that when I was 18 my tuned 1 litre mini was only doing 24mpg! Whilst the Z4 being 3.0 was doing in the 30's.
Surely once the car is up to temp the cold air being denser should mean better economy?

still a bloody rip off even if prices have come down a bit.MrPT said:At least fuel prices are quite reasonable right now.

Maniac said:I should imagine long trips aren't really affected. As we all know its short/cold trips because the temp drop means even longer for the engine to warm up in slow traffic or short runs.

If you don't like the MPG get a moped !!! Ha ha![]()

Interesting. Do me a favour, reset your average MPG tomorrow morning before you set off, do the trip of 5 miles there and 5 miles back and let us know what it says then?

Maniac said:Good result. That average speed is fairly good which would explain the consumption figure. I think my average speed is way lower and hence the worse mileage, made worse by the cold temps. Not forgetting the rather hungry twin turbos.
