Coding Remote Window Close and Folding Mirrors

below is the procedure I used to code the folding mirrors, I think there are different versions of NCSexpert so some of the menus may be different

1. Launch NCS Expert software. Click “File” -> “Load profile” -> “Revtors Expert Profile”, then click OK.

2. Click the “VIN/ZCS/FA” Button (F1). Then “FA/ZCS/ECU”. Then choose your vehicle body type (E89)

3. Select “CAS” and click OK. ? it may take a while to process

4. Click “Back” (F6)

5. Click “process ECU”

6. Select module to work with (CAS, FRM,NFRM) and click OK

7. Click “Back”

8. Select module “CAS” and click ok

9. Click “change job” (F2) choose “CODIFRINDATEN_LESSEN”, then click ”execute job”

10. Next open file explorer and navigate to “Windows C > NCSExpert > work” folder and open “FSW_PSW.TRC “ file (open with notepad and “save as” “CAS_FSW_PSW.TRC” to a” backup “ folder you can create in the ” work” folder,( then close and reopen the original “FSW_PSW.TRC” file )
11. Next locate the text line you wish to alter (for folding mirrors when locking) FH_KOMFORTF_MIT_SUBST (use “file->edit->find” to locate ) and delete the “nicht” part of “nicht_aktiv” to just leave “aktiv”

12. Click “file->save as” and rename as “FSW_PSW.MAN “ click ok, click yes if prompted to replace it

13. Go back to NCS Expert and click “change Job” and select “SG_CODIEREN” click OK

14. Click “Execute job” this will then write to “CAS” module, the idrive will then close and reboot

15. To complete the programming For folding mirrors go back to stage 5 above and repeat the procedure for the “NFRM” module and find “ASP_EINKLAPPEN” and alter to “active” (saving a copy as “NFRM_PSW.TRC” , this gives you a copy of both modules you have altered in case you need to re set the original for any reason, simply “save as “,“FSW_PSW.MAN” back to the “work” folder and re run “SG_CODIEREN” )

16. If you wish to keep a backup every time you make a change then simply save a copy as “CAS1_FSW_PSW.TRC” “CAS2_FSW_PSW.TRC” “CAS3_FSW_PSW.TRC” etc. or whichever module you are working on.

CAS module close windows
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_PA > active
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB >active
I used NCSdummie for coding the windows and didn't really take note of what I altered but looking at the FSW_PSW file I can only think it is the above.
hope this is useful to someone.
please note you do this at your own risk.

Yep, i can confirm this works ok (windows closing and mirrors folding with a 1 sec press on the fob).
CAS module
FH_KOMFORTF_MIT_SUBST > active
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_PA > active
KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB >active

NFRM module
ASP_EINKLAPPEN >active

Also did the dash digital speedo whilst at it:-
KOMBI module
BC_DIGITAL_V >active

Fun fact about the digital speedo, the other day I discovered it also back when going backwards! :o

I also went down the Carly route only to find that I couldn't put the top down with the key FOB. I would like to find a solution and feel the same way about the smart top. Why add more hardware when its just updating the code. Is the Carly OBDII hardware compatible with Carista software?

oh btw, when I asked Carly specifically if they could code the top control using the key FOB they said to look in the manual , over and over again. They final admitted they haven't spent the time to code it into their product. I don't believe this is even on their list.

That's weird, putting the top down is built in from the factory as far as I know. I don't think you need Carly to enable it. Can't remember but I'm pretty sure mine worked before I started coding it with Carly.
The big problem is putting the roof UP - there seems to be no option other than Smarttop to do this, ie, it can't be coded.

Edit: This is never ending. Just found this post on YT in reply to a "its joel" video where Joel has coded the roof down & up on his E85 (didn't know you could do that on the E85 without a RCH+ module):
E89: I used Carly to code the roof open and close while driving and used the battery reset to change and register a new battery - that paid for the app and adapter. Very happy with it.
Who knows what to believe - maybe the person meant E85 :? (although I usually apply the least reliability to YT comments)

Actually this has been mentioned before here (roof up, not down as you mentioned), but it seems with carly you need to hold the button to get the roof to go up, whereas with RCH you press the button 3 times and it does the rest for you

The roof opening with the key fob is a standard feature you shouldn't need to do any coding for that. The question is for getting the roof to close with the remote. I have found couple of coders who managed to code this to the E93 using laptop probably INSTA or NCS (I am guessing), Carista also told me that they have many users who have managed to code their E93 to close with the remote using Carista. I have not spent anymore time on this but I still suspect that with some alteration in the coding it must be possible to get the roof to close since all the hardware to do it is there and the E89 is closely matched to the E93. I spoke to one of the coders who have done this for the E93 and he said obviously he would have to plug the computer to the E89 to know for sure but he thought it would be possible too, only problem is he is in London and I am in Spain, so I dont think that will happen anytime soon! Carista told me that they will be updating the app so that user can alter code or add code like an expert mode and then there will be possibilities do much more stuff.

if you don't have comfort feature added at purchase you can't put the top down with the remote.
Sorry, but I don't believe that's true. Comfort Access allows you to close the roof from the remote, but opening has been do-able without that feature.

Not true, mine doesn't have comfort access but I could put the roof down with the remote without any coding. The manual also states you can put the roof down with the remote.

Yep. Long press on the unlock button opens the roof as standard, no coding required.

You cannot currently code the roof to close remotely either. You can tick these code options (in Carly for instance) but it'll make no actual difference. Same with the mirrors folding/unfolding on lock/unlock.

As I have said as the start of the thread I have coded the windows and mirrors to close / fold with Carista.

Apologies. I missed that. I should have gone for Carista then, cus Carly doesn't activate it.

Even with Carista I couldn't do it but with Carista Beta I was able to code it. Not sure if Carista have applied those codings into the main app yet. Interestingly Carista have told me some of their customers with the E93 have been able to code the roof to close with the remote. I have also found coders who have been able to do this. I somehow suspect the roof electronics is largely very similar between the E93 and E89 therefore I think with the right coding it can be achieved, although this is unheard of so far.

I've never successfully opened the roof on my 2011 E89 by holding the remote button. Simply doesn't work.

Chippie, a few questions...
1. Do you have to be connected via INPA before running NCS-Expert Tool?
2. When I load profile my only choice is "default Profile", is “Revtors Expert Profile” needed?

Battery? I've heard that if the battery isn't close to optimum, then it won't open.

Try it once you have been on a drive.

Up until a month ago I've been commuting 50 miles round trip per day. It didn't help. Top still does not retract with keyfob.

You don’t have to connect INPA, it’s only to make sure you have a definite connection to the car with it showing the two black circles

I can’t say for sure which profile you would need to use, it’s just the profile that came with NCSexpert, you will have to try and see which will work, I think there are tutorials on YouTube about setting up different profiles

I coded my windows to close, mirrors to fold when locking with the key fob (hold lock button for about 2 secs) using Carly.
I have this option: S313A Foldin outside mirror - @Overweight Unicorn - do you have this?
