Coding e89

Is there a definitive list of what can be coded on the e89? I have done a search and whilst there lots of threads about things that can be done there doesn't seem to be a full list of whats possible? If everyone throws in what they have done maybe we can collate it all together? :)

It should all be listed on the Carly website I thought?
Some of the options are only possible if you have specific options on the car such as folding mirrors/comfort access etc :?

It’s an apparently simple request but a complex answer...

Some tools, like Carly offer a fairly mundane range of options...more sophisticated factory tools allow more esoteric options, some require coders to crack factory locked systems..

What is your end goal?

My end goal is to code everything available that's useful :D I believe you can code a digital speedo onto the computer display which i would like, folding mirrors on locking would be good too. I guess I was more after a whats the best things to code in than whats a full list of whats actually possible..everyone seems to codes things in on the e85 but doesn't seem so much of it here in the e89 forum

you can read out each module's capabilities using NCS Expert, load it into NCS Dummy, match with your car's VO and figure what you want to code in

Carly does the same

One touch indicators i found handy, you can specify 3 or 5 flashes i think, also headlights on after locking to light up your drive/front door, audible chirp on locking.
There’s a lot to play around with for lighting, with slowly rising illumination on unlock or full brightness immediately, brake light display, angle eye brightness etc. It goes on & on.
You can also alter the max speed the folding roof operates at.

What one person finds useful / helpful / nice is not necessarily what others think..

The Carly list gives a reasonable view of most of the normal ish options people can select..

I have the 5 flash one touch indicator , 25mph roof operation, DRL on max with my LED bulbs, true digital speed as options

Well you can definitely code both of those with Carly. Hopefully this should help.

 :D

I enabled the digital speedo but found it to be way out of line with the speedo gauge (which was very accurate measured against a satnav). Never could figure out why the digital speedo was off, I tried coding true and corrected options but it didn't seem to make much difference. Ended up coding it back out as it was a bit pointless, but it was nice to be able to give it a try.
Folding mirrors on lock are great, triple flash indicators good for exiting roundabouts (it's the law to indicate exiting a roundabout here, not sure about UK). Also coded out the annoying chime when you leave the key in and open the door, but I'll fess up and admit this did catch me out once when I left the key in overnight and flattened the battery (in the E85 - I'm pretty sure the E89 shuts down after a short time even with the key fob inserted).

I wish they made it a law here (Spain) too, since nobody uses their indicators on roundabouts here at all. There is a running joke in the UK about how BMWs don't need indicators because BMW drivers don't use them but here nobody uses their indicators no matter what car they drive! Lane discipline is shocking too!

Anyway in answer to the OPs question I have coded the following with Carista:

Folding door mirrors with remote
Closing windows with remote
5 Flash one touch turn indicators
Digital Speedo
Acoustic alert when arming disarming the alarm
Opening closing roof up to 30 KPH

Might be a couple of others things which I don't remember.

There are 2 digital speedo options, i found using Carstina, 1 is digital speedo, and the 2nd is actual digital speedo or something like this.

I did not know you can alter the speed of the roof mechanism bud, is this in Carly??

He probably means the speed the car is moving at, not the roof.

I was thinking the same thing, already got mine 'coded to taste' but a super fast roof operation would be nice, although it would probably shag it :D

Sorry for any confusion, I meant the max speed the car can be moving while the roof is deployed rather than the time the roof operation takes to complete

I couldn't justify the price of carly to register a battery and a few other bits and bobs so have gone for bimmerlink, bimmercode and a Bluetooth connection for around £70. No annual fees either.
I'll be interested to see if its as good or as useful as the reviews say.

Pretty sure I tried both options, but neither lined up with the a/log speedo which was bang on compared to a satnav speedo once I changed the a/log speedo to actual speed instead of corrected speed (via coding).

True digital speed... this may be touching on something I have been pondering. Namely that the speed on my speedometer is shite. It reads out as much as 5mph higher than Im actually driving at highway speeds. My wife's mini does the same damnable thing. Im an engineer and lack of precision just frankly pisses me off when its not hard to do right.

SO... I noticed in my JB4 monitoring app that theres a speed option... amazingly, THIS matches GPS speed perfectly! So the car KNOWS how fast its actually going. And there was a SEPARATE GPS speed option in JB4, so it wasnt just pulling from that.

So I was wondering if there is a way to fix the speedo, with or without a digital display which WOULD be nice, to just show my actual dang speed. Is this related to the true digital speed option you mentioned?
