Do you keep your wallet in your left back pocket by any chance? Maybe losing the thick wodge of £20s to pay for the service has allowed you to sit a little straighter in the seat

Just changed out my CDV, I haven't put any real miles on it yet, but can definitely tell it shifts a little easier.

Does removing the CDV void the BMW extended warranty or are BMW happy for us to remove it?? :?

BMW are never happy if you remove anything they design into the car. If they knew you'd done it, I'd put money on the fact that your warranty would be voided in respect of all clutch, flywheel and probably gearbox related issues. The thing is that if you replace the CDV with another that has the restriction removed, then it is impossible to tell unless they remove it and inspect it. That, I would suggest, is extremely unlikely to happen.

Does this sound like the CDV?

I have noticed that when shifting from 1st to 2nd that if I clutch-in quickly it feels like the clutch does not disengage quickly and theres a big 'clunk!' type noise, even if you clutch-in slowly it still clunks a bit, if you clutch in turtle-slow then you can avoid this and if you are giving it full beans from 1st to 2nd and shift you can avoid the clunk noise...does this sound like the CDV and would removing it solve this or is it another problem?

I cant replicate it in any other gear change apart from 1st to 2nd. It does sound like it to me but I have read posts of people who have driven with and without the delete who have hardly noticed a difference and this is what makes me doubt that its not the CDV.

CDV removal helped my 1-2 shift when it had as little as 500 miles on it.
fresh fluid is also a must.

Helped the clutch engage/disengage, smoothed out shifting and drivetrain engagement.... no more jerkiness..
Never had the 1-2 grind as others have reported.

I think the problem is down to the spring in the clutch pedal too damm hard
