I think tinted hockey sticks work best on dark inner headlights, otherwise it can stand out a little.
Yep was just thinking that too, on the black headlights they look good.

i'm thinking maybe a silver tint rather than black,i suppose i could try one of each as you can get the tint remover stuff, either way i don't think donor lights with the clear sticks will come along cheap enough for me to not try tinting 1st,if some came up at a later date at least they'll be easy enough to change, marius i think yours look ace espc with all the other mods you've done.
Thanks to everyone on here espc cj10jeeper who took the plunge,if it weren't for these people we'd be forced into either living with the ugly orange lights or paying a fortune for new updated ones.
Learnt so much on this forum already, everyones friendly and helpful, hopefully one day i'll be in a position to help others.
I'll post some pics when done, decided to get them wired to interior light as well as permanent ignition on so they are on rather than having to use switch.can't wait to start now(is it too late to start taking bumoer off now) :o

If you buy clear side repeaters you can test the tint on the old orange ones rather than on the only set of hockey sticks.

I tried tint spray myself and it looked horrible, but was my first attempt. In the end i paid to get them done to be sure it was a good finish.

SMD led's will die slowly one by one , it happened to two cars i've did before ,they have lasted about a year on both cars ,now they look terrible"

I believe the reason for this is there should be 1 resistor per LED the reason for this is some draw more current than others even though they are all made the same spec. I was reading about this after converting a bunch of christmas trees from battery power to USB this year haha. In my LED's it seems there is one resistor per 10 SMD's around the ring.

Also on my Z4 at the moment when I lock and unlock the car it sends a very low voltage to the LED rings at night you can see them light up very slightly, if you look closely some individual SMD are slightly brighter than others which is impossible to notice once full power is running. It is my understanding that the brighter ones will die first once that happens the others then get more current and will also die slowly one by one. I doubt that will happen for quite some time but it would maybe be a good idea to fit a voltage regulator to something like 11v to extend the life further.

I also fitted in the house several LED 240v down lighters after several years only a few of the cluster of 18 LED's are on in each one. After taking them apart sure enough there was 1 resistor to a bank of 4 LED's.

Cheap s**t not made to last crap... like most electrical stuff these days. They KNOW that it will fail eventually...... Just past your warranty period.

So front bumpers off, which may now be premature, even though i've got the car sorn while i sort various other problems out, headlights are removed ready for the cutting, however ive not ordered the a/e's yet.
Which ones are the best to go for because it sounds like there are the two types which will last longest,i dont want to have to open them after 6 months to change, any help including links as to where to get them from reliable sources would be great as well.I have tried several of the links to different suppliers and they are now no longer available or appear to be not trading.I know there are quite a few on ebay but i dont want to be waiting several months for them to arrive(or not as ive ordered stuff from china etc before),any help would be apreciated.
Thanks bazza

Well i know its not a zed but i have already done angles on mine so today i had to replace a front bulb on my misses car and while i had the head lights out i thought what the hell, lets give it some angle eyes.
I have now ordered two chrome indicator bulbs to finish her off.

Indeed they are, just the spare set i had kicking about. Didnt use them on my zed as they looked to yellow when not switched on

Looks smart  see what I did there.

Don't suppose you have the other two rings left do you, just wondering as they would make usefull spares if any LEDs die in mine

Had a good read of this now, would these be the best dremel discs to use to open up my headlights?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6PC-HSS-Steel-Saw-Cutting-Disc-Wheel-Set-Fits-Dremel-Mini-Drills-Cut-Off-Discs-/400271061948?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D6682689616778096761%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D280975609360%26

Or can anyone recommend any others? Cheers

I used "heavy duty" discs and only needed 1 disc to cut both lights. The discs in your add look a little brutal and will probably do more damage than good, the teeth on the discs aretoo much I think.

You can have facelift lights at 350 euro, but they are not oem and look more like the e89 lights... They don't look bad though.

that's oly when you don't have Xenon, and the aftermarket are straight swaps i believe, i believe Mau (he's also dutch) had tose lights on his car, and some other dutch z4forum.nl members have/had them.
