Right, so my tint film arrived today so had a little experiment... but clearly didn't think it through when I bought it... all will become clear, or not.
So, its mirror smoke tint from ebay for only a few £ for 1m x 0.5m. (smallest they do)
I didn't really think about which side of the film would be 'sticky' and which would be mirror smoke... Doh!
So when applied using the sticky side, the mirror smoke side is against the orange, so is wrong way around...

Resulting look is very dark, with a very subtle hint that there is some orange behind it.
When a light is applied it still shines orange
To be fair, in a black headlight this might look good, very stealth and dark...?
So, using some sticky tape for the purpose of the experiment, with mirror smoke on the outside, it looks, well, smoked mirror chrome...
Its very difficult to get a picture to fully portray how it looks in the flesh, but I would say with the mirror smoke side facing out as intended, it looks a lot better than full on tin foil mirror tint!!
Plan B: Find mirror smoke with sticky side correct way around, so it won't be regular window tint...
Plan C: Use the same tin foil tint Ranski used, but overlay it with a very light smoke tint, and I mean very light, like 5-10% smoke tint. This should take enough of the shine off it to calm it down...
Anyway, comments welcome.
Ranski, as you have an open headlight, I'm happy to send you this tint to see how it looks, both ways around inside an actual headlight unit. I think using tape to hold it with mirror smoke facing out, it will look ok, but proof is in the pudding as they say.
Cheers
