Classic moment yesterday

I was on my way back from the in laws in Bo'ness when i got stuck behind some people cruising along at 45 in the 60s, that is a bit of a pet hate of mine as the roads were perfect due to the nice weather. Getting a tad frustrated when i reach a dual carraigeway and this guy in a SEAT people carrier decides to immediately go in to the right hand lane, i make it a rule never to under take anyone for the simple reason being that i dont want points on my licence with it still being illegal in this country. So the two of us are going round the roundabout heading the same way, we both turn on to the slip road for the motorway. I take the right lane and open up the throttle and to my surprise the person in the people carrier starts to floor it from the left lane, they actually thought their SEAT tdi would outgun a 3 litre Z4. I stopped accelerating at 70 obviously but i was gobsmacked that they actually tried to stop me from passing.

They obviously dont know much about cars if they think a people carrier would be quicker than a 3 litre Z4.

I have noticed a large increase in other people's speed at junctions / roundabouts since upgrading to my Z4C.

However, I did have a brand spanking new, beautiful Le Mans Blue M6 pass me on the exit of a roundabout today, I didn't bother to try race :P

I have never had so many people try and race since I have had the Z4, I woukld of thought the MINI JCW would of been more in the bracket.

I just pull away looking cool and let them get on with it

I had fun with an old shape 3.2 Audi TT the other day...

I was at a set of traffic lights in front of where they were held at another set - both turned green at the same time and so I sort of had a head start. It's a great bit of dual carriage way that ends with me having to go to Sainsburys which I hate so I tend to blast down there to put a grin on my face before the hateful shopping begins. I was minding my own business doing this when the Audi came screaming past me (I wasn't hanging around) and pulled in front... Interesting I thought, stuck with until the next traffic lights and pulled next to them ready for the next stage of our battle...

Unexpectedly, the boy racer I was expecting to see turned out to be a really  blonde woman who smiled (because she beat me) and then turned off sensibly thus winning the maturity competition as well!

Made me smile anyway.

I've spiced things up a lil bit with the "2.0i" badge on the Z4M... can't belive the number of golfs, 330s, civics, vauxhalls, white vans etc that tailgate me a foot behind my rear... I quietly shift to the left lane to let them pass, then as they slowly do.... bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, mwaaaaaaaaa (i guess the sports exhaust helps with the decibels... )

I used to get TDi and various other things trying to goad me in the 1 series.

It's been great having the M as this nonsense has completely ceased. Then again if it did happen i think i'd just ignore them, the M doesn't really have anything to prove!

Over the weekend I was driving up B4030 towards Bicester from A44. A ford estate followed me into the B road, He kept quite close to me. I was with the Mrs in the car and had top down and taking it easy when he started tailgating me, I took of at a corner and he nearly lost it. When i looked in the mirror He was nearly on the grass but credit to him he managed to get it back on the road. He kinda eased off after that stopped tailgating.

I have to say, it's usually Vauxhalls that try to give me grief, what is it aboout Vauxhall drivers that make them want to challenge BMW's I wonder . . . . . .

Delboy :)

when i had my skyline every single turbo or V8 made it their mission in life to try and race me, but i found since upgrading to the Z its only the holden v8 (4 door sedan 6L 317kw v8) drivers that still try (my mate just twin turbo'd his), and they have an edge in a straight line, but the Z owns them in the corners n twisty bits. :D

What really annoys me is when I pull into the right lane on a two lane carriageway to overtake slower moving traffic on my left (i.e. the right lane's intended purpose) and I have some idiot in an Audi come right up my arse, beeping and flashing his lights. He was happy following me along for 5 miles in the left lane, but as soon as I pull out to overtake someone else, he gets annoyed! I don't get it.

To get them back, what I tend to do is slow down, whilst still being faster than the car in the left lane. Really annoys them, then to finish off, I pull back into the left lane and as they drive past staring angrily at me, I do this :P

If I'm getting tailgated on a dual carraigeway, I do exactly what it says in the highway code.. slowdown.
Now.. I may do this whilst overtaking a truck.... but technically.........

I had a civic type R try race me on the M1 a few months back... and an S2000.

The Civic was a joke.. but the S2000 in the right gear are serious quick.

Always seems to be Young guys in transit vans that want to race, but normally only on single carriagways, Most recent was driving past gleneagles, Me and Mrs out for a nice drive, I approached a white van and kept my distance, I know the road quite well and know the O/Taking spots, However white van man decided I was not going to get past, At one point he had sped up and was doing About 85mph, anyone who knows that road will Know its not a good Idea to do that kind of speed, as we approached a tight left hander he did not slow down and had to take it wide, I thought he was going off or over he was almost on two wheels as he took it and almost took out an oncoming Car. I pulled back and let him go when it finally dawned on me that this Ass hole was likely to spoil what had been a great day.
No doubt he would have been telling his mates in the pub, but I am sure that when he got home he would have had to change his Pants

I very raely get anyone goading me. Mind you living in london isnt exactly the dual carriageway racetrack that is Milton keynes.

The other day, sitting at traffic lights with the roof down and a guy in an Alfa brera literally rubbernecks round and could not stop staring at the car. This i thought was quite a classic moment :D

My Z4 was only a 2.0i but most people wouldnt know and i would get loads of people trying to race me and tailgating. Was mainly FR's, Type R's etc..
The 3.0si Z4 is serisouly quick and no doult quicker then my 350Z yet not many people try it on with the 350Z, It has the opposite affect and cars that were rushing around tend to slow up.

The one car that ive noticed more and more of though that think there the fastest thing on the road is the TT TDi, shown plenty of these up lately.
