Clarkson what a C***

Biggest money making show on the beeb... sacking the lead presenter, effectively ending the show? never going to happen.
Ever.

They should give him a pay rise for all the crap he has to put up with, To**ers trying to making it out to be more if a deal then it is.

Utter madness. I hate the word, I hate the stigma around and it, and its bullshit ability to be used dependant upon the colour of your skin.

How can Chris Rock do an entire act based upon "nigga's" and use it as a detrimental term, whether in a comedic manner or not. And Fiddy Cent use it when he's talking about him and his nigga's blatting people at fiddy yards, yet Jezza C says it once, as part of an old rhyme, and it's not even aired, and it's a bloody travesty?

Pull the other one.

I couldn't agree more with this.

Haven't even seen the clip in question just posted to see what the forums reaction would be :D
Love Top Gear and usually find Clarkson entertaining apart from some of his political views

Sad that you didn't give him the benefit of the doubt before calling him a cock. Are you on jury service anytime soon?

I think there is a big difference to say Clarkson and what Ross and Brand did to Andrew Sachs so needs putting into perspective.

Clarkson is no different to say Prince Phillip, they both make baffoon remarks now and again which are generally harmless. Storm in a teacup.

Tim.

I wouldn't want to see him lose his job but he's not for me.

I don't believe for a second he's racist. There is no such thing as an intelligent racist and he didn't get to where he is without brains.

But it sells papers and gets the usual witch burners out in force.

Or maybe you work for a newspaper?

I think that perhaps the title of the thread is supposed to be ironic, given that 'cock' is one of Clarkson's stock words...

Having been to Top Gear and heard him talking to the audience and co-workers between takes, he seems like a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour. The media outcry is typical of tabloid journalism - just a shame that it's become the stock approach of a large proportion of TV reporting nowadays. Hardly surprising given who owns Sky. Unfortunately he's the perfect target given his past indiscretions, but he's done nothing wrong and suggestions he should be sacked are ridiculous. I'd be interested in what happens to the BBC employee who leaked it, if they can find out who it is. I'd have thought that releasing un-broadcast material without consent is definitely a stackable offence...

Tim.

Was going to steer clear of this one as haven't started on the beers yet, just another perspective...

TTs comment was how I used to view the situation... except for the harmless bit.
IMO I think Clarkson and crew have moved from TV car journalist to "modern" day TV personality/presenter where all sorts of borders are going to be stepped on and beyond to remain "edgy". Somebody somewhere (presenters and writers) in the bowels of TG puts thought that goes into the content and humour -

- EenieMeenieGate - he has apologised emphasising no intent
- BhurmaBridgeGate - TG are guilty, as the producer admitted to intended wordplay equals casual racism, and that coming from popular folks could lead to accepted racism, principle of monkey see monkey do
- BeingOffensiveToEveryone - guilty, I can think of many clarkisms, one that springs to mind is when he refers to the french as "cheese eating surrender monkeys", now don't think that would go down well if TG was aired in france and was paid for by french TV license paying folks

No high horse mounting going on, but to those who think it is harmless unless you have personally experienced racism/bullying/initimidation, you will not understand the thin line where having a laugh turns into somthing beyond that.

I don't believe there is any intent, and I like JC and would also sit next to him at a wedding, but as with most mates, sometimes they can be complete c***s

...going off for an afternoon drive in the zed now, this is a car forum afterall :driving:

Clarkson works for News International.
Story Published by Mirror Group Newspapers.
Non-story.
Just a poke in the eye for the competition.

Why is it when a black person uses the word it's ok/funny and when anyone else does, either on purpose/mumbled, its offensive?
Can't a black person offend another black person? Or am I missing something?

Happiley sit next to Mr C at a wedding. I'm told I'm very like him, by some.

Sometimes all this PC stuff gets to ye and ye just have to rebel a little. Not because your a racist or an anything else ist. But just because you have to get it out there.

(Top gear has still lost the plot though)

Most people haven't seen the clip so are on a crusade to blacken his name based on Chinese whispers. The BBC will probably hold a Spanish inquisition ending with no final solution and cries of whitewash. You really are treading on banana skins these days, you get a word out of place and you end up playing Russian roulette with the PC Taliban :|

I once went shopping with my ex wife, to John Lewis, and we were looking at towels, and she said

'Thats the colour I want, N###er brown' my mouth dropped open......

But she was 14 years older than me and that was the vernacular she grew up using, just the same as when she used to say Paki Shop.....and the term Wog....

It's bad yes, it's just we are soooooooo politically correct in this country.

Nobody gives the Americans a hard time for Miss Black USA, try holding a whites only beauty pagent....but anyway......
