Clarkson what a C***

Why is everyone referring to racism as a white against black thing? Racism works both ways...but when it's the other way round it doesn't get reported the same.

Damn right Kevin, this makes my blood boil.

This is PC gone stark raving bonkers.

It's a rhyme that has connotations from a previous age, so realistically it is bad judgement to use it on tv. I don't believe that Clarkson has said the 'N' word, but I believe he, and the producers of TG, are equally at fault of bad judgement - like it or not, we live in a very PC age and anyone in the public eye needs to be careful not to cause offence - although causing offence is central to Clarkson's appeal and he always sails close to the edge.

For example, there is an instance of this particular rhyme being used during boarding on a Southwest Airlines flight, where a flight attendant encouraged passengers to sit down so the plane could take off using "Eeny meeny miny mo, Please sit down it's time to go". The passengers in question included some African-American's who stated that they were humiliated due to what they called the "racist history" of the rhyme. A jury in the 2003 lawsuit returned a verdict in favor of Southwest and the plaintiffs' appeal was denied.

Clarkson shouldn't (and won't) be sacked, he is worth too much to the BBC and has not been proven guilty at all. Bad judgement, yes, racist slur, no. And no amount of rabble rousing or lynch mobs should be allowed to prevail.

What's all the fuss about? He made a mistake, he's apologised. Move on.

He's of the age where these rhymes were ingrained in your head as a kid, you were sort of conditioned, when you were taught it you had no idea what the N word was! It was just a rhyme, no racist intent. So when you are now singing the rhyme, there is a chance that the N word may slip out. I'm sure many of us have been 'guilty' of letting slip?

I don't use it because it's offensive to some people. But the clip wasn't broadcast, therefore it's not on TV. Not for public consumption. It's just someone out to get him. Isn't anyone allowed to make a mistake anymore in private, let alone in public. To err is human. If Clarkson gets the boot, it'll will be a bad day for Reason, he may not even have said it after all.

You want to see true racism? Go and visit India or Pakistan for starters.

Just a thought - If the presenter was not Clarkson but of African descent, would this be acceptable?

The world is going mad.....yet another case of the slow descent into the dumbing down of the human race by media scumbags.

Controversial??? Utter bollocks more like.

Good job they didn't ban Wing Commander Guy Gibson during World War 2 when he was shouting out to his dog or else we'd all be eating sausages and comedy would be anathema. (oops, please don't ban me!) :headbang:

I havent seen that movie in years. Do they just bleep out the n word now or is it shown as is?

Not the best thing in the world for him to say, can't see how this causes him to be labelled a racist though

If you want to see what passed for comedy in the seventies, take a look at this, from 3 mins in its cringingly offensive.
Curry and Chips - starring Spike Milligan

I see Harriet Harman has called for him to be sacked. Good job taking money from, and promoting the civil liberties of, pro-paedo organisations isn't a sackable offence eh Harriet? Glass houses, stones anyone?

When they screened Dambusters last year, as part of the anniversary commemoration, they un-bleeped the dog's name. Cue plenty of complaints...

You can't change history. This was amongst our finest hours, we should take pride in that we collectively saved the world from Nazi tyranny, uncensored.

Still amazed this is being publicised in the Media - the facts were:
- it was never aired on TV
- was experimental material that ended up on the editing floor as considered inappropriate
- he never clearly said the word... & knowing his repertoire would have purposefully implied but knowingly avoided it

Really boils my pi$$ all this holier than thou spewed out by people who should know better
