Clarkson what a C***

He's going nowhere. Makes too much money for the bbc.

He's always struck me as the kind of bloke you dread being sat next to at a wedding. Top gear is s**t too, bar the odd glimmer of quality.

Are we talking about him allegedly using the N word.

A bit like using the C word really!!!
Meant cock but if you mean the other think there's quite a few people would disagree with that statement

Not my job to defend the man - he's no favourite of mine for sure. If and only if he used the word then he has demonstrated bigotry/racism simple as.

But you might want to bear in mind that he denies saying the word in question. Unless you have actually seen or heard him using the word, you appear to be relying on the written press. Hardly a reliable source IMO.

An interesting debate either way.

How many people have complained, or even knew/remembered about this prior to this news story?

Just saw it on Skynews, and it implied it was an online clip from several years ago, although I guess it may have been aired on TG at some time. But as said, they always use the word cock...which surely could be classed as offensive...although as not racist, nobody cares.

Is it like the Russel Brand incident against that faulty towers daughter on the radio?....not many people complained about that, until it hit the press and got blown out of proportion?

I've seen the clip, he was reciting "eenie meeni miny moe" to choose between two cars and mumbled a few words in the middle rather that saying them out right, the clip was cut and reshot using the word "teacher" for the broadcasted version.

He didn't say the word but I guess you could say it may have been implied, it's just been twisted out of proportion by the newspapers to sell an outdated form of media.

Your Opinion,
I'd like to sit next to him at a wedding!

Me too!

It wasn't a clip that was ever on top gear, on the cut that made the show he said 'catch a teacher by the toe', I think this was around the time when he was having a go at teachers for striking. I've seen the clip where he allegedly says it but I'm not convinced. I think he's genius most of the time and just hope that this wasn't what was actually said.

It's a witch hunt IMHO. Leave the guy alone a lot of people find him very funny, the rest can just turn off. In the same vein isn't davegt's post as bad as most of us know what comes next. Good grief what is this country coming too!

Thanks for sharing Carol.

He often causes offence and obviously it's part of the on-screen persona, which I'm not overly keen on. Quite bad judgement to be taped adapting that nursery rhyme if he was really struggling to clean it up, but we've all used bad judgement at some point. The video message seemed genuinely apologetic.

I don't see it that way, I guess it just depends what you're used to hearing, my childhood version was 'catch a tiger' I believe there have been many versions, people will read into it based on their own experiences.

I'd imagine an afternoon with Clarkson would be quite entertaining

I'd say the real twats are the folks blowing this out of proportion.

Anything to sell a story and create some hype....

Due to its use in popular music, it has become socially acceptable in some groups to say the "N" word, so people are bound to make mistakes and use it when they're not supposed to.

I think that if black people want to use the 'N' word...... then it should be ok for everyone else, too. If you don't like being called it then don't make it socially acceptable for certain groups to use it and not others.

The thing that's important to me is the intent behind the use of the word and the context.

Utter madness. I hate the word, I hate the stigma around and it, and its bullshit ability to be used dependant upon the colour of your skin.

How can Chris Rock do an entire act based upon "nigga's" and use it as a detrimental term, whether in a comedic manner or not. And Fiddy Cent use it when he's talking about him and his nigga's blatting people at fiddy yards, yet Jezza C says it once, as part of an old rhyme, and it's not even aired, and it's a bloody travesty?

Pull the other one.

Clarkson did nowt wrong.
He comes from an age where the song used the N word. Hell - I come from an age where it used the N word, and I'm a lot younger than he.
It was never broadcast, and in the one clip where you can "maybe" hear him mumble it, he already asked the prod staff to never use it.

Simple.

If it wasn't for the media hound-dogging for scraps there would be nothing. So what if he accidentally mumbled it on an unused take?
Freudian slips happen and as soon as he had heard his mistake, he made steps to ensure it was never broadcast.

If they'd broadcast it, then yes, call him on it..
if he'd said it clearly on a take, then yes, call him on it..
but he didn't, so leave be.

I hope he gets sacked and moves to itv like Jonathan Ross. Then without the budget restrictions of the bbc we will then see more of him on the TV which would be a good thing. In my view top gear is along the lines of comedy and you don't see the PC press attacking when a comedian says something non pc. The word nigger (not one I choose to use) appears in a number of my step sons rap songs. This wasn't broadcast, it was changed before hand and has been leaked by someone in the bbc. If the press can be sure they have not said anything not pc which has not been published I would be surprised. That said top gear ain't what it used to be and a swap of channel for Clarkson should be a good thing. I see Gove's has stepped in to support him a sure sign that he will be given the push lol!
