Christmas cheer

Mark them with UV markers with your postcode as a minimum. If you do invest in magic water for the cars, you'll get stickers to mark the car with.

It might deter them, but sadly they're likely to return. A bit like burglars return after a few months as they know stuff has been replaced.

Might seem odd, but is the mini more valuable than the zed? You might want to change what goes in the garage for a while...

Sorry to hear this has happened.

I found the passenger side mirror glass shattered on our Mini just before Christmas. It was parked outside the house so I checked the CCTV (installed a while ago after a hire car had the wing kicked in, along with 5 other cars down the road) and saw some little chavy scrote wander up to the car and stab at the glass with a key or some other implement. No other damage, it didn't even move the housing, just a completely mindless act. Unfortuantely it was dark so there wasn't enough detail in the picture to bother going to the police.

The mirrors are pretty easy to get off, if you fold the mirror in it exposes the socket headed screws that hold the base onto the door. I suppose it gives a stronger fixing than a screw from the inside into the plastic base?

Thanks for the advice, will look into it. Was thinking about using silicon in the screw too? just to make it a little more difficult?

Ye, the ones we have a folding and the motor wont allow the mirrors to go up forcefully without really giving them a kick and that would probably break them. So maybe I just wont fold them for a while...

Dont like leaving the Z on the street, every fri/sat night we get drunk people walking up the street worries me lol! Sports cars I would have thought would be targeted more than a pretty normal common mini!?

You basically just fold them and the screws are right there, although I thought maybe a break in the circuit with them being removed would set the alarm off...

Maybe wire up the screws to the battery...

Can you park the car in front of your garages? with a sensor activated flood light to deter them at least,

Have you thought about replacing the screws with more specialist ones? Perhaps hex/star patterns?

Tapatalking...

Good idea, but go tri-wing. Aeronautical standard and while the tea leaves will have tor-x etc, I very much doubt they'd have a tri-wing set

Funnily enough I noticed they were using those on some toys recently..
