Chris Evans is new Top Gear presenter

Why didn't they get Chris Harris… Younger, fun and knows how to drive…

I like Chris Evans, I also liked the entertainment of the lads but the recipe was ageing and they were out of control. It wasn't really much about cars more stupid s**t they could do with them. Im more interested in the cars than what idiots can do with them.

Because no one would tune in. Its ultimately an entertainment show not a borefest provided by Harris which you can see on YouTube. Evans is an entertainer and has ideas.

Here is the clip from the Chris Evans breakfast show re how it all came about. I wonder if May might be enticed to work with Evans here and possibly Hammond?

This is a slightly shorter version but the quality sounds a bit kak http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33162666

Both reportedly turned down £1 mln. They will follow their leader to Netflix.

Personally I look forward to the new show, I have no opinion about presenters or content until then. Many forget that when Top Gear first started, it was crap. It takes time for formats and shows to establish.

I thought the old presenters, much loved as they were, were getting staid. It was less about cars and more about three old blokes up a mountain. It can only last so long no matter what.

Jodie Kidd shouldn't get anywhere near the job. Plato is boring and not particularly funny. Guy Martin is too closely associated with bikes. This is an LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT show with cars as the backdrop not the other way around.

Harris should have his own TV show but not Top Gear. I really think they should've canned the show and come with a new format. Presumably Clarkson, Hammond and May will reappear at some point in the near future with a rival offering.

Have to agree.

Will be interesting to see if they still get the same budget, and if the car companies will allow them the same amount of time with the cars etc. I mean, for example one of the last episodes where they drove the M6, Bently & GTR in Australia. Those cars paint at least must have been shagged after filming that. Would the new line up get the same setup.

Also interesting to see if the old trio get the same access to the cars

Sky News web site has this on it:
The radio host reveals he was only offered the job last Thursday and confirms he will be joined by a female co-host on the show

Get your bets on

Can't remember the last time I watched Top Gear but this seems a case of one insufferable overpaid twat being replaced by another insufferable overpaid twat.

Fair enough that Jodie Kidd is a petrol head and likes her cars and car related stuff like rallies etc. But what else has she got to bring to the table?
Shes not exactly eye candy, James May is better looking
Same goes for Sabine, she can obviously drive anything extremely quick but she doesnt have a personality that will make viewers tune in week after week.
Without presenters that viewers actually want to listen to without wanting to turn over to shut them up the program will not last.
I am looking forward to a new format with new people as I really got bored with them ruining perfectly good cars with their version of comedy.

Chris Evans seemed to suggest on the One Show (yes I watch it every night and yes it's pish but hey ho) and he seemed to suggest that they were going to look further afield for people to apply for the other presenter posts. I remember that's how Hammond and May got their jobs so why not try it again?

If they are looking to do that, I'm applying  was too young last time

Well said that man

I thought that Jodie was still a good looking woman when I was stood next to her at SS Classic last year. Considering she's a mother now and not getting younger she still got it. Not Kate Moss but still good looking none the less........however if she's not interested in what she is talking about she is very dull!

She might be different on TG but I doubt it.....plus I'm going to try steal that job :driving:

I dont think Kate Moss is pretty either, haggard yes.
Most of these supermodels are the same, better looking girls on the high street.

So it would seem the 3rd presenter will be a random chosen by audition from a selection of celebrities & fans who apply :(
Who's having a go ?

Suzi perry is past her best as well

Personally I think she's getting better with age!

I heard Jodie Kidd (Groan) and Dara O'Brein were the two proposed sidekicks !

Where did you pluck Dara from? Cause nothing says cars to me like an Irish comedian  supposedly although there will be a female there is no confirmed format and number of presenters

It will be announced on his breakfast show tomorrow with an email address from Friday. I genuinely give it a go as I remember the request for new presenters last time but I wasn't even old enough to drive and couldn't apply  can now tho

Isn't Polyanna Woodward looking for a new job since leaving Gadget Show & having a child? Good presenter, willing to have a go.... and definitely eye candy!

Jodie Kidd? Bad presenter, not especially attractive...
