On the BBC website they said:
TV and radio presenter Chris Evans will be the new Top Gear presenter, the BBC has announced.

Evans said he was "thrilled" to get the job, describing the motoring show as his "favourite programme of all time".

"I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward," he added.

He will replace Jeremy Clarkson, who was sacked after punching a producer while on location.

Evans, a car enthusiast, has signed a three-year deal to lead an all-new Top Gear line-up.

He said the programme was "created by a host of brilliant minds who love cars and understand how to make the massively
complicated come across as fun, devil-may-care and effortless". "When in fact of course, it's anything but and that's the
genius of Top Gear's global success," he added.

Controller of BBC Two and BBC Four Kim Shillinglaw said: "I am so delighted that Chris will be presenting the next series of Top Gear.
"His knowledge of and passion for cars are well-known and combined with his sheer inventiveness and cheeky unpredictability, he is
the perfect choice to take our much-loved show into the future. "Chris is a huge fan of Top Gear and has great respect for the craft
and work ethic of one of the best production teams in the world. "He knows the phenomenal attention to detail it takes to make a
single sequence of Top Gear, let alone a whole series. He is already full of brilliant ideas and I can't wait for him to get started."

Production on the new series of Top Gear will start in the next few weeks and more information will be announced in due course.

Wonder who he will be presenting with and how soon Clarkson and team will he rival programme.

So he has the most listened radio show on the BBC and now presenting the most watched show on the BBC worldwide, he must be doing something right

But will it be 'the most watched show on the BBC worldwide' without Clarkson and co?

I thought the 3 team were heading for a rebirth on Netflix ?
Evan's is the best of a bad bunch linked to the position so no complaints from me but he can't do it alone .
From the stupidly delerious grin across Plato's face on Friday nights TV i wouldn't be surprised if he's in on it .

Yea.....

Well spotted Andy.... Plato looked like he was on crack on TFI...And he has given up fifth gear.

Good sleuthing i reckon.

Mrs G gave me the news earlier. Though I'm no Fan of the man and switch the One Show off, on the evenings he presents it. Doesn't mean he won't make a good fist of TG. Here's hoping.

Im just glad its more motoring Tv for the masses , apparently kicking off this weekend with a carefully chopped show of already filmed stuff before the Clarkson steak + chips debacle

Perhaps Hamilton is the third

:D oh yeah , my aunty is 86 & watching her juggle her teeth is more entertaining , the guy can drive but he proved he is verbally inept when the topic veers away from him & his career , , top cock imo

I was joking :poke:

Speechless, first it's "I don't want the job"
Oh, "how much you offering? Omg deal!"
Good luck to him, he's really going to need it to win over the fans, he has got some very big shoes to fill.

That was a surprise, I listen to his morning show on the commute, and mostly he is cheeky but well within the boundaries, and mostly nicey as opposed to smashey.

I don't hink they can do a clarkson et al format, as the personality is very different.

He is a petrolhead, so lets just hope that's enough to bring us what we want. Maybe they can persuade Jay Leno and Chris harris to join

Will be interesting to see what people/presenter types he's grouped with, do you think he gets to pick his own squad?
