Here's a plan ----Stonehaven for Fish & Chips on Sunday 8th September..@ 10.30 am
Start point will be the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus - then a rush north into the Grampian Mountains before turning south again thro' Glen Isla (one of our prettiest but often overlooked glens.) After Glen Isla we will travel along the Valley of Strathmore from Kirriemuir (birthplace of James Barry) and on towards Edzell and Fettercairn before climbing up and over the Cairn o' Mount towards Banchory. Swinging back south again we will return over the Grampians using the famous Slug Road to Stonehaven. After fish and chips we will take the coastal route south to Montrose, and then head across-country to Brechin. From Brechin we can use the minor road that goes over Finavon Hill to Forfar, passing the church with the famous Pictish Stones at Aberlemno on the way. At Forfar we have the option of having coffee, or ice creams, or even a toilet break at McDonald's, before taking the final leg of our journey back to Coupar Angus.
