Cheapest Insurance thread (UK)

I'm 23 year old guy who drives a 2006 Z4, 2.0 litre.

I went on both confused.com and comparethemarket.com, and the cheapest they were offering me was a whopping quote of £2,000!!

Instead I rang up Admiral and they offered me a premium of about £800, which I happily snapped up.

Pretty funny as my previous car was a Nissan Micra and my renewed insurance for the year would have only been £250! That's the price I paid for buying a Z4... but saying that I love my car and wouldn't change it for the world

Scared to drive my car for the next couple of days until the garage look at the flashing orange engine light problem. Thankfully still not sold my old car and managed to get 3 days cover with Temporary Cover Limited for £38. Broke my heart!

As I'm in the market for a Z4 the cost of insurance has been crucial in my purchase - so much to the point that I'm looking at an older car to ofset the costs.

Best quote on a 03 Z4 3.0se is from Admiral at just over £1500.00 - comprehensive, 23yrs old, 5yrs ncb, Worcestershire, parked on drive, Social & Commuting 6000 miles, 1 fault claim, no points and I work in insurance. Putting my parents on the car (both over 50) brought it down from over £2000.00! They want an extra £50 to insure a hardtop.

Insurers tend to want to know about all changes including factory fitted ones. Some charge extra, some dont for factory fitted options. Basically should the car be damaged or written off then your insurance only covers you for an original car. EG. they could put a standard bumper back on and not your parking sensors, or only offer you what its worth in standard form. Its unlikely they would void your insurance for not declaring them unless the modification/upgrade caused you to make to claim

I have my 3.0si sport coupe insured with Sky/Chaucer for £850. I was pretty happy with that. Im 28, live in London with 2 years driving and 4 years NCB.
