With the lowest possible depreciation dialled if you can buy them at this sort of money you will only lose about £1k in three years, now THAT is cheap motoring!
Oh did I mention they are quite perky to drive but don't touch a pre-2009 of any of the three makes (Aygo, C1 or 107) as they had a clutch problem meaning most will go before 30k miles, fixed on the facelift. Otherwise all good![]()
car to be only used for the supermarket etc..

Another option is the Hyundai Getz 2008 40K miles it retails for around 3K.
I hate Hyundais but its not for me.
I studied the market pretty well and I think at the moment the best value for money is the Nissan Pixo.
Anyone knows anything about them?
Budget is crucial, Pixos are selling for more than 4K and she would like to stick to 3K as its a car to be only used for the supermarket etc...she works close to where she lives.
They have a nice car for longer trips and holidays.

My mum has owned a Hyundai Getz for the best part of 5 years. 2004 1.1 CDX 5 Door. Its been very reliable only one fault in that time was the wing mirror fell off from cold a few winters ago. We replaced it with a used part cheaply enough. Running costs are extremely low and its spacious enough (we've had a few tables, ovens, etc in it) The boot isnt massive but big enough for the weekly shop. The 1.1 is a perky revvy engine and is fine for a single person going from here to there. However its almost useless with 3+ people in the car as the 62.5 bhp /ton cant really handle too much weight. My mum uses it to travel 1 mile to work and back daily and for shopping on the weekends. My dad uses it every weekend to travel to north london and back. I cant praise it more to be honest but I would say that we have done low mileage (its not hit 30k yet).
Personally the Pixo is a newer smaller (city car rather than supermini) Renault based vehicle. From a practical standpoint it doesnt appear to be as good on paper but I've never driven one..

Hyundai Getz (2002-09)
5Dr Hatchback 1.1 CDX (2004/54)
Average Mileage: 90,000
Price New: £8,069
Car valuation adjusted for 27,000 miles
Retail: £2,598
Private Good: £1,868
Private Average: £1,458
Private Poor: £1,108
Part Exchange: £1,608
Trade: £1,484
So about £8k new which sounds about right as we paid £4.5k for ours after 3 years and it was low mileage then also..

You can get fully maintained deals and all will have a full warranty so why bother with used? After2/3 years, hand it back and jump straight into a new box with a different badge/paint colour.
Bluestreak. I'd steer well clear of an battery laden Hybrid that is getting a bit long in the tooth. My mate works for Honda and he says the battery packs in their hybrids are expected to last roughly 8 years and will cost in the region of £7k to replace.
