Cheap Alternative to Vinyl Wrapping

his wheels ? or did I miss something? Wonder how long they will last in Cumbria's climate?

Well for a quick job costing £20 on a £50 set of rims, then it makes sense.
End results look as rough as you'd imagine though

Yuck!

What a mess, wouldn't have thought it would last five minutes in Cumbria... Probably spent as much doing the home coat job as the car is worth... :poke:

Test drove the TF back in 2001 and it is a terrible car - useless handling, no poke and really cramped cabin

:tumbleweed:

Fair play to the bloke. As he says, for a set of 50 quid rims, WTF.

And as they say, the man who never did anything wrong, probably never did anything...... :driving:

Good for a cheap set of winters :)

personally i would have filled and sanded the chips... would have taken maybe a few hours.. but would look much better.

Also lacquer it should make it last the winter.

I think its a pretty good idea and on page 8 there's a clip showing how easy it is to remove........

You all missed it

He painted the whole car

Maybe i am the only one.. but i think it looks great..... considering he did it outdoors without a spray booth or the tools.

I'm with you what a great result! seeing it was outdoors! :o Could be handy for a grill etc. I wonder how long it would last :?

http://www.plastidip.co.uk/eStore/index.cfm?type=Domestic_Solutions/Plastidip&stage=1

Plastidip resists alkaline, acids, salts, moisture, abrasion, and most chemicals, and is an insulating dielectric coating. It will not crack, chip or peel, and will remain flexible even under severe conditions (-34ºc to +93ºc

:o

good effort though...

others on that thread are considering doing the same :?

finished result isnt too bad, Id never do it though...

I did my wiper arms in that stuff on my last car.

Still looks good today after 20k+ miles.

He must be insane to do his whole car in it though!

Seems like a less permanent and easier option to wrapping. I'd consider a matt white job. Obviously it would never be a great finish, but I'd never want to keep a white car unless I kept it in the garage for summer days...

LOL, I quite like it... the guy obviously doesn't take himself too seriously either, which is kinda cool... like how they gave him "the baldrick award" for his project

Think I'll try this on the kidney grills rather than buying a matt black one for the Z4M bumper

This is my plan as it just peels off if you do not like it, seems it's worth a punt

yeah exactly.

When i used to own a celica the americans swore by the stuff.... i didnt know it was removable at the time... probb be easier ti spray my roll hoops with this then vinyl wrap them.
