Seeing Maid of the Seas in pieces at Lockerbie bought back some painful memories. I used to regularly see her at Heathrow...

they fly first class aswell ( 2nd most dangerous seats after the captain )
They would be better off using coach. Then use the thousands saved to hire a Bentley Continental for a week or buy a few ounces of Gold.

Yupp. All the systems are recoverable and go for very good money. A 747 windshield segment is well into five figures. There's a company at Kemble making a good living scrapping old airliners. Quite sad to see the planes making their last flight in

Exactly the same thing went through my mind too, just replace 'tomorrow' with 'next week'. I'd rather be blissfully ignorant on this one than aware of the facts.

Regarding where to sit...each crash is different and they had one guy who survived a crash sat in row 1 whereas the rear of the plane broke up, so my attitude is that if its going to crash, your probably mullered, and lets face it...its out of your control how the aircraft breaks up. If you get the opportunity to escape, then thats a bonus.
Which is why, money permitting (or in my case, credit!) I'd rather by lieing down on my first class bed quoffing champagne!!!
They said the rear wheels snapped off as designed, but the front isn't designed to...so where asking if that could be why the front broke up. Sadly more experiments like this dont get done, so some things are just not known.

Understand all of that. Was sure they used computer models to do this in previous years though. Don't actually see the benefit of using a real plane other than to make a programme people will watch for an hour and a half about a plane crashing. There's probably an argument somewhere that says there's no second best to the real, physical world and that that's also why they crash test cars etc etc etc but I just question the entertainment vs real life research that came out of the programme, that's all. Yes the front wheel could be made to snap off but surely that's just logic (strong, non forgiving piece of metal digs into strong non forgiving piece of ground at speed = buckle, twist and breaking). Oh well, it kept me occupied for a while I suppose and was far better entertainment than anything on ITV2
Frankly if you're worried enough about where to sit in case your plane crashes you shouldn't be flying!

Two women going to Egypt? Why ... You are rated second class there as a woman and most likely ignored by any waiter etc ... Does not sound like fun to me.
