Changing front springs, can't remove roll bar drop link

Trying to change the front springs and I'm stumped at the first hurdle! Cant for the life of me work out how to undo the drop link nut. Got a socket on the front, spanners wouldn't fit on the back as they appeared too thick so I purchased a 16mm cone spanner (the size all the guides on the Internet say) and it still doesn't fit! Any tips? The bolt is just spinning round as I csnt get the spanner on the back to hold it in place :headbang:

When I did mine, I also had problems getting the 16mm spanner to fit the back nut.
In the end, I found the spanner would only fit the back nut in a couple of positions e.g. 7 o’clock or 11 o’clock. Just keep trying the spanner on different sides of the nut until you find the side it fits.

Most garages just angle grind the nut off!
