Changed knob and now gearstick turns!! Help.

As per what have you done to car today. Tried pulling and twisting (in the end I butchered the old one)
And now the gear stick will turn.
Have I damaged something or do I just twist back?

Broken maybe, but hell of a difference on the gear change. Can't thank Buckley 06 enough.
Deffo get one peeps!
 
I have heard of this occasionally happening if to much force has been applied, it has been covered before if you do a search. I think that you may have damaged or broken something :cry: so I think some investigation work is required. Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Thanks Swiftly, I can't fond anything but ill keep looking. Gear change is fine, if anything Id say that top bearing is fubared.

The gear-knob on my current Z4 used to twist a bit.

Anyway I swapped it for a ZHP last year and when I fitted that I gave it a gentle whack and no twisting any more! :)

So I think it must have seated better - it's got to be worth a try OP. :thumbsup:
