the power of want has lost me some nice cars and I've ended up with something that genuinely left me feeling like crying... this has happened to me twice over my motoring life and I've swore ill never make rash decisions again! 12k for THAT z4m is quite literally a crime..

5 fits into 'car I wanted as a 17yr old but couldn't afford / insure'. Never driven one but holds a soft spot still.
That said, never meeting your heels can be a good thing. Remember how disappointed I was driving a MK2 GTE having saved up my pennies. The MX5 was what I purchased out of uni & regret I still, currently on 180k from web research.

I don't think it would bother many who just swap a Z4M for the M3 but I swapped two cars(both fine in their own right) for the M3 so I was asking a hell of a lot from just one car and it failed to deliver on its do it all remit for me personally and I massively regret losing the two car set up.
You could argue that its not the M3`s fault and that its mine
and I wrongly thought there was such a thing as a do it all car but there just isn't...because any car has compromises and its taught me that for the best set up you need a reasonable daily and then something exciting for the weekend too. Went from a z4 3.0 to 2011 e92 manual m3, I was quite disappointed after the initial excitement wore off. I kept it for just about a year. Plan is to get back in a z4 next year, now whether to get a m roadster or a m coupe that is the question. Make sure to test drive both manual and dct, don't rush to a decision as it can be costly mistake as I learned the hard way. No offence to any e92 owners, for me I just didn't feel the same connection I did with my old zed.
That mirrored me and at first when I was wrapped up in that new car feeling I thought it was good...the problem is the M3 is a very ordinary car when you use it day in day out...and that's where the stumbling block comes and having owned a E90 330d before it other than really high speed back road blasts it just felt like I was in that for the rest of the time.SGRG said:
I nearly changed for a M3 this time last year,it was a low miler in white with electric glass sunroof,it had all the tech stuff (edc,dab dct etc) and was comfortable and smooth to drive with nice seats and a big boot,but couldnt get the numbers right with the salesman,compared to my z4 it lacked excitement and driver feel. I now bought a Honda civic for everyday driving and can tax and use the zed when the salt/ice etc is no more.

Personally I wouldn't. M3 prices will go to the gutter and Z4M will go up. On that basis alone I wouldn't ... plus 100 other reasons you already know about
Well I've gone and done it, Im sure its the right thing.... The Z4 stays.
So I'm going to keep the Z4 which does no miles then in 2 years time look to add a second M car, at which time an M6 could be affordable OR maybe something else will catch my eye.
However I think the RPI exhaust is going, want something louder standard with a deep note but not RPI level (swap anyone)
