When I bought the car, there were some serious scratches/paint rub off on the center console in the area of the emergency brake handle. If you notice, all previous pictures of the interior had a hat over the affected area.
I just could not stand it any more, so this afternoon after work, I removed the center console to paint those offending pieces. I did try sanding the affected areas with 1000 and 1500 grit sandpaper to smooth out the paint/plastic interfaces but I know if I use a smooth type paint they will still show through.
I could not decide on color. I know an exact match will not be possible so I am trying to be tasteful but distinctive.
I picked up a can of Metallic Silver (smooth paint), Metallic 'Hammered' Black and Metallic 'Hammered' Grey/Silver. The Hammered look will mask any imperfections that there are and is close to the original color.
The wife and I decided on the Hammered Grey/Silver. Not sure how it will look when installed. The parts are drying now. If I don't like it, I will try the Hammered Black.
If that still does not work, I may just have to go buy new pieces....
This is defiantly an experiment.
