CDV? good mod or bad mod

I've never heard of anyone saying this is a bad mod.

+1

wish I had done mine a lot sooner

you can even do the mod yourself http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1227&p=17580&hilit=how+to+modify+valve#p17422

Just had mine done a week ago and I've taken control back over my clutch! This is the way it should of been out of the factory in the first place! Smooth, controlable release, specially 1-2 and 2-3. :driving:

If you don't want to do it yourself, here's a supplier who will modify it the right way, just scroll down to the very bottom of page (procedure is included): http://www.zeckhausen.com/BMW/Z4.htm

can the dealer do this mod to my car or is it "do it yourself" kind of a mod??

I would think that the dealer wont want to know, they will state its there for good reason, to stop transmission damage through made clutch control etc....

Good mod.

If you are comfortable with crawling under your safely jacked-up car and replacing a part located in the clutch line knowing that the clutch shares fluid with your brakes (and there will be leakage), then you can do it yourself. Otherwise, a good garage should be able to do it for a half-hour labour charge. Dealers may balk at replacing it since they may perceive a modified part as a safety concern.

Your dealer could do it but if your car still have warranty on
it not a good ideal as may void your warranty :!:

Those of you who did the dummy CDV mod and basically admitted you did the mod in this thread, just for caution, back in the Z4um days, BMWNA regularly monitored the forum and it wasn't abnormal for BMWNA reps to contact a member directly by phone (even though the member did not disclose his phone number on the forum) when the member posted about certain issues and problems with the Z4 that were unresolved. You'd be amazed how easy it was for BMWNA to find an owner's info with little information about the owner disclosed on the forum. I've heard of the same thing on other BMW forums as well.

So doing the dummy CDV mod and then publically admitting you have done it sort of defeats the purpose.

I see what you are saying, but dealers can easily check to see if this mod has been carried out, and would probably do this as a matter or routine if the problem was transmission related, just my feeling
