You really are a prick pvr!

0-60:
Cayman: 5.4
Z4 2.5 SE: 7.1 (SI: 6.5)
Z4 3.0: 5.7

....and it's a 7 speed box!!

Get....

PSE
Sports Chrono
Cruise
Heated seats
Stereo/ Hifi upgrade
sunroof
Parking sensors
Big wheels
MF steering wheel
PCM with Bluetooth
Adaptive seats.

You can't go wrong with Blacks and greys body colour as most popular, other colours are also liked just take a little longer to sell on.

Great info. Many thanks. Colour choice is still a headache and agree about the brothel interior you were subjected to!

LOL.... no hard feelings I hope between lux and pvr I hope :D no love lost there but I suspect a rather passionate relationship is evolving

Seat cooling huh? Now that was something I never knew of. May encourage me to strap a bottle of wine to my spine! The unorthodox four cylinder twin turbo set up will no doubt be interesting which appears to show the 718 models to be quicker than their predecessors but we are talking fractions which is of no major importance to me.

I have only test driven the flat six Cayman (mind blowing!) and will be shortly taking the Boxster 718 for a spin as the Cayman is about 5 months away. This rather lovely day has got me thinking again about the lid-off option but I have been bullied into accepting that getting a Boxster will signal the end of my social life (still actually don't know why....).

Ever grateful

Cheers JC :D

What I read (not driven one), the new engines are better in 90% of driving circumstances and the overall car is supposed to be overall much better again than the old one.

My performance comparisons were based on having owned and driven the various Z engines on the same roads, not paper values.

Are you thinking manual or PDK?

Have you heard the new 2.5 4 pot turbo, it has hints of Subaru and a few pops mapped in for good measure overlaid against the turbo whistle. We were not allowed to drive the cars at the 718 boxster launch but could rev the S and non S.

For the cash I would be interested to compare it against a TT-RS or perhaps a second hand R8 whose values have firmed.

+1 Second hand R8 as a weekend toy, not a DD though.

Taking the 718 S Boxster for a test drive next weekend hopefully. R8 is staggering feat of engineering but I fear the running cost and upkeep of such a potent machine especially if second hand.

Thanks for the tips

Are Porsche generous with deposit contributions at all or do I have my head in the clouds?

Trying to minimise my monthly finance payments.

I doubt it but would love to be proven wrong, why I will be ordering am M140i as much I would like to dip into new Pork ownership.

Tim.

I managed to get £2500 off but it's all relative anyway, BMW give higher discounts and dealer contributions but that affects resale values so didnt bother me too much.

I'm not sure it does though Steve, when we both bought our Zeds in 2012 I think we both received heavy discounts, think I got 8K off and there was all the talk at the time how such discounts would hit residuals badly. When I traded in I was pleasantly surprised and the Zed comfortably paid off the outstanding finance. I find it hard to ignore 7/8k off an M135i, OK it doesn't have the Porsche kudos but bang for buck and all that. Still Cayman residuals should be rock solid.

Yeh you might be right Tim. I had £4500 of equity left in mine but I didn't go stupidly low on the monthly payments on purpose.
I hope the Cayman will hold its price, but who is going want a car that can't pull the skin off a rice pudding!?

Tim. Wow, so there's an M140i on the horizon. Got a lot to live up to given it's remarkable predecessor which I believe you still own :)

Just seen a few Porsche dealerships giving £2k contributions which isn't exactly generous but may cover the cost of the PDK :|

Hope the economic downturn goes in my favour :)

Hey that's pretty good and you raise a valid point about resale values. I've decided to have a go at selling my 35is (a 63 plate) privately at first hoping it will bolster my deposit towards the Cayman.

I was looking at the M4 initially but having done a test drive and driven one at Brands I was left feeling a little empty. Great car but something missing.... on the other hand the Cayman was a revelation in nearly every aspect. If I could stretch to a Carrera I would but sadly not that wealthy!

M140i = Classic car in the making, fast forward 20 years, you heard it here first :D

More importantly - you do realise that the roof doesn't come off a Cayman don't you? :D

Have you scratched the itch in terms of open top motoring now?

I love grey cars, they're stylish and classy looking and look awesome when clean. Blue is doing the rounds at the moment as the 'new silver' so it depends on how long you want to keep the car for. Red Porsche's always look good though.

I look forward to reading more about this when others comment!
A tin opener may be a good optional extra :poke:

You know something, those last few glorious sunny days did test my faith to the roof down option..... Porsche I want but the Boxster...... hmmmm..... heard rumours of relationship break downs, hair loss etc... :(

Cheers JC :D

These do look interesting, especially in Miami blue although I've not seen one for real yet

Dread to think up the monthly costs though...probably north end of 800 a month?
