I found using the N52 OEM inlet hose with an open cone filter didn't produce much more noise. It might be due to the large resonation / type thing built into it I assumed. Someone in the USA was also doing carbon intake pipes, that coupled with this could be a good combo.
The noise should come from the filter and intake hose itself, irrespective of sound generator.

Yeah, agreed. I wasn't implying the sound generator was limiting the noise. Circled is what I assumed may of restricted the noise? I'm not sure, I just know when I popped the large Simota open cone on from the GruppeM (Without the carbon surround) onto the end of the standard intake hose, I barely noticed any noise difference.
That's on the N52 isn't it?
I believe[ref]Jollygiant[/ref] is doing the initial development on an M54 which has a far simpler air box.

Does it sound more like the e46 M3 CSL with it's carbon airbox? :D in that case I'd happily unplug the original sound generator as it kills the proper inline 6 sound.
I suspect the lack of revs from the M54 means you're probably looking at more of a gruff warble than a screaming, wailing thing like an S54.
I was watching YT videos of e46 M3 CSL, filmed from outside and inside the car. I liked the sound way better than the SG sound of my Z4. Not just in the upper rev range but from the idle up

any news on this being avilable to purchase?
I did reply to you on Insta, but for the benefit of this who don't follow me on there, (well why don't you :poke: :D ) I'll answer on here too...

I'm now making Prototype V3 as I wasn't quite happy with the size of it. I also have an idea for my air scoop too, but I have to take the front bumper off to fit some parking sensors, so will do those and the air scoop when I can do it.

I can't say on price yet as I need to have the final mould made first. For prototyping I just use sheet ali as its easy to work with and bend etc, but it's not strong enough for more than 1 or 2 parts as it starts to distort and bend.

I spannered myself on my push bike and re-broke/ fractured my scaphoid that has a bolt in it all ready and broke two ribs, so kinda not been able to do much for few weeks.
But I'm on the mend now and starting to do some things again.

Dyno time.
Got there late as traffic was shite. Paid £145 for and hour and ended up with 40 mins, who knew i would take 1hour 20 mins to go 40 miles from Watton to Salhouse road in Norwich, normally it would take about 45mins max going though the city centre.
So didn't bother with the standard run as we all know a new e85 2.5 puts out about 190BHP +/- a couple.
Mine is now 21 years old with 110,000 miles in.

So straight on with my airbox with standard scoop, then my scoop and mine made 1.5bhp more and they operator said the fan blows air in @ roughly 45MPH, so extrapolate that out and it's ok, not huge but a small improvement.

So my airbox, with my scoop and the modded exhaust makes........ Drumroll please :guns:
214.9bhp and 253.1 talks with the bonnet open and 213.2 and 249.9 respectively with it shut. He opened the bonnet to allow the car to get as much air into it as possible.

There is bit of hole in the middle and he said that could be due to emissions/ timing/ fueling and he could get that slightly better with a re-map and maybe get another 5ish hp too but at about 4-£500 I don't think it would be really worth the cost.

To make anymore he suggested you would need to go down the cams and lightened flywhee etcl route and again unless you are into track days it's not really worth it.

Now to try and make a MAF sensor pipe for the N52 engines.

That link doesn't work but found it on your site.

Is the intake forsale too?

Sorry, fixed the link and the scoop are for sale either separately or I do a joint purchase deal.

On the outside of the car when booting it it is defo louder for sure but thankfully it is quieter in the cabin than the stock system. These have too much induction sound in the cabin for my liking anyway.

I made this setup myself, had a nice healthy performance increase too. I've made a few sets for others too.

I do like the sound of the induction roar.
