"car has dropped out if it's production slot"

Got an email today stating the above.

Going to call the dealer tomorrow - Anyone know what's the most likely cause for this and what I should ask the dealer to ensure they aren't pulling the wool over my eyes.

Doesn't sound too promising that's for sure :(

Sure not the only one to ask this....actually dropped and smashed itself?

Sure that's not the case....could be holiday break like the Spanish and Italians.....

Not acceptable under any circumstances, holidays are known in advance and are scheduled into production plans.

Maximum bollocking would be my response.

Totally agree

Dealer says that he's had 3 x 35iS cars drop off the production today - He Is going to call BMW to see WTF is going on !

Will let you know what he says and if it's something to worry about - he seemed to be saying it might be something to do with the "Big Engined" variants on several models :?

Accept no BS. You're the customer and paying a lot of money. See what they can offer you spec wise by way of recompense.

Good luck

Hope you get it sorted :o

We were told that any of the customer specs can make it drop off, (and yes it is all customer spec stuff as they are built to order) Our valencia orange with black roof was on and then off and is now back on again, so hope that is the case for you too. BTW we are only going for the 2.0 so maybe the larger engines are the issue as well.

Good luck as it is hard enough waiting until around the 15th September without it being pushed further back!

Just heard from a different source (BMW Dealership) that "all engines 3.0 and above have moved back until at least December" :(

FFS !!!!!!

I'd cancel, there's plenty more fish in teh sea and manufacturers need to learn how to treat customers. :headbang:

Andi.

Interesting as to get the current deals the car needs to be registered prior to the end of December. Too many deals been taken up? Probably not but if it's going to be that long will they still allow the deal?? You would hope so

I Have just spoke to my dealer about my order and he says that BMW system says that all orders for Z4 now show as Dec, but that must be wrong. As last week when i first enquired he had a build slot for Sept. He said he is going to speak to BMW Wholesale (who ever they are) and let me know.

Why would there be a hold up on z4's or 35is models

According to my dealer this can happen with BMW - They take away build slots (presumably because there aren't enough orders built up in the system).

Then all the people with orders complain like fcuk to the dealers and then BMW give the production slots back !

He seems to think the production slots will be back in a week or so.

If mine isn't BMW will have lost at least 1 customer - FOR LIFE !!!!!!!

Well and me as well, ill start looking at TTS / or wait for new TT. I called BMW Customer Service and they said they had no info on delays etc.

It's strange how I was told last weekend to order in January! and now this!!!

From my thread about it said:
"I told the sales guy that I'm looking to order in a few months time, after I've seen & tested the new Audi TT which is due out Sept/October time. This puts me into the Sep-Dec quarter of deals, he didn't give a detailed reason as to why, but just said "Order January for March delivery". I tried to push him on why then rather than Nov/Dec and he just smiled and said again "Order January as that's the start of the new quarter and new deals". I tried another angle and asked if I ordered in the last quarter and then a better offer came in at the start of January before I had taken delivery what would happen, he replied with a smile "Unfortunately I'd be saying bad luck", then finished with "Order January", again I tried to push him if there was something he knew that would make for a better January deal, again he just smiled and said "January, people buy convertibles in the summer".

I'll be watching what happens very closely over the next few months, and if the deals get even better in January then that's fine, if the deals go worse then I'll not be buying out of principal!

Just read that they are running out of engines for the 35is,as production is due to stop anytime. That's why I ordered mine in April, I was told that then & thought the residual would be good. Good luck with your orders
