Audis have really grown on me recently, partiularly the higher end ones.

Whilst BMW may have the edge on the driving 'experience' Audi certainly show them up on gadgets etc.

Our neighbour has just got an A7 Sportback... really nice bit of car.
Audi's customer service & finance packages are first rate too, it's a real difficult one because Audi's are nice to look at & have lovely interiors but are ordinary to drive where BMW are great to drive but aren't exactly beauty queens!

At least you get decent build quality from the two companies, I personally favour beemers but then I really enjoy an engaging drive & I seem loyal to the brand my zed is my forth BMW on the trot

I should have tried a TTS Coupe before I bought my E89 two years ago.

trust me you made the right choice.
You certainly made the right choice, we have a TT-S & neither of us like it, it's back to Beemer again when we change the TT, the TT is great to look at & sit in but thats where it ends, we made a big expensive mistake, the driving experience is none existent, under steer city & zero feedback from the steering.

I know Audi have a poor reputation as drivers cars, but I didn't believe it, but now I have first hand experience it's very justified

TTS's figures are better than 23i, i.e. bhp, 0-62mph, mpg. The interior of TT is slighly better, and has 2 tiny rear seats. I would probably get more toys in TT with the same money. I tried my colleague's A4, the steering was rubbish. I think I will only go for the R8 if I can afford one in the future.

It's funny though how Audi fans will talk all day about their lovely interiors but then gloss over the fact that actually they are about as exciting as watching paint dry as far as driver enjoyment goes. I don't buy a car for its interior - i buy it for its looks and they way it drives. They don't exactly have a sparkling reliability record either.

I just don't see what people see in the looks either. I think the A4,6 and 7 are dreadfully, dreadfully dull and boring to look at. I'd categorise them in the Toyota Avensis division when it comes to visual excitement.

TT and R8 are striking, A3 is a decent looking hatchback and the A5 is ok as well.

I reckon Mercedes have a much nicer range than Audi right now.

Something tells me you don't like Audi's Steve

Okay John you've got me there! I think they are solidly built cars and for what you need yours for (and many others in a similar boat) they are an obvious choice to consider along with 3/5 series and C/E Class Merc.

I guess it's horses for courses but they just don't turn me on I'm afraid. I'd rather have a Merc E I reckon.

lol.. I test drove a Merc E and a Merc C and although nice cars, the interior really let it down. Too much silver plastic stuff and artificial leather seats... On a premium car you get artifical leather unless you spec it at over £2k!! Besides they offered me peanuts for the Zed... Im talking 5k less than Audi did.

Crikey that's shite on the trade-in! My best mate's got a C250 Cdi with leather (not sure which trim level - can never remember the names - think it was avantgarde) but has full leather and very nice but I agree on the dash plastics.

Did you'd ever think about the Jag XF Diesel ?

I know. I was shocked at what they offered me... They didnt want to budge either.

The trim I was looking at was the AMG Sport. It has artificial leather which they call Artico leather.

Come on I know ive bought an A6 but Jaguar XF is a little old man

Mercedes C350 Coupe AMG Sport will be my first choice if not a BMW. It really looks better than 3-series Coupe.

It does look good Ksher

Until you sit inside and see that silver plastic and realise you have to operate the parking brake with your foot... And you are sitting on artifical leather and the radio display is like an old wireless thing with a needle that moves..

Oh the parking brakes are a PITA. I had a C-Class Sports Coupe years ago and I hated that parking brake.

Merc brake assist though was incredible - stop sharply and it applied maximum breaking force immediately. Very reassuring.

Wait till you have a few miles on the clock, put it in dynamic mode and watch it fly.Nearly as good as the sport button.

The E89 is probably one of the best looking of any cars on the road today.

Tim.
Totally agree its gorgeous, I would love one myself, I was thinking more e90 3 series & 1 series & most don't like the look of the e60 5 series, I don't mind the looks!

I even find the x6 attractive...there is something wrong with me I think!! :)

There isn't anything wrong with the way the TT-S goes it is quick, but it's not especially exciting when you push it, now the R8 is another matter...awesome!
