Can i go out for a drive ?

People in general are just ignorant.
The amount of people who are walking around the streets is unbelievable.
The lockdown advice was obviously not clear enough. People seem to be taking the part about exercise wrongly and are out exercising even though they wouldnt have normally. It wasnt an order to start exercising! I am seeing whole families out for a walk as if they are their holidays, get a grip, stay at home.
The 8pm event for everybody to go outside and clap and cheer for the NHS is a nice idea but if you really care about the NHS and want to limit the spread of this virus stay at home. Dont just join in because facebook told you to. Or maybe if facebook told everybody to stay at home as a challenge people might obey.

Let’s face it if it was pissing it down you wouldn’t see a sole out, the fact that the weather has been lovely for the past few days people see it t as an opportunity to get out and enjoy the sun, unfortunately there’s a small minority that feel it’s ok to go to a park or beauty spot and treat it like it’s a bank holiday.

There isn't even the need for an MOT now John
That's not how I read it.letting my MoT lapse before the 30th of March could invalidate my insurance. So it"s getting one tomorrow.

Yes only applies to cars with MOT due after the 30th.

I spotted and father and 2 kids with their bikes parked up, having a pick nick by the side of the road...just don't get it

That is £27 saved than as we get 6 months free :D

Is there an end date of the 6 month extension or is a September MOT now valid until next year :?
I wouldn't smile too much. We all have to pay for this at some point. Any guesses what basic and higher rate tax will be in the next budget. :(

I did ten miles on the mountain bike yesterday.
Spoke to a few people, but only at a distance.
Stopped a few times, and sat quietly by the river alone.

Even driving to go somewhere to exercise or walk your dog is negating the lockdown according to this...
https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2020-03-26/police-ban-driving-anywhere-to-walk-your-dog-or-exercise/?fbclid=IwAR2z-YRC27vJD5DWzRzm-J3C7E1vkhmsF1DkSnj2ao8Z5gNNbnqkamt4MHk

The current government guidance is to take "one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk or cycle - alone or with members of your household".
No mention is given to the length of exercise, although Cabinet Minister Michael Gove said on Tuesday that "people can go for the standard length of run or walk that they ordinarily would have done. But… the important thing is, once a day".

A Normal walk for me is around 20 miles. They have closed off the car parks in Dartmoor National park, the largest open space in Southern England, that really does make little sense at all. I often walk an entire day in the centre of the moor without meeting a soul. it's hardly Snowdon via the pig track, on a busy day If the weather had been rubbish that would likely not of happened. A little annoyed to be tared with the same brush as those idiots, but I guess it is what it is for the moment. I could always walk to the moor and back on a daily exercise routine. Far safer to drive there and park up though, which is why I don't quite get it.

I just don't understand why people are unable to do what they are told for once instead of trying to find any excuse or loophole to get around clear instructions. I think the Government doesn't want anyone to leave their house unless it's absolutely necessary, they have made that crystal clear yet people just don't seem to have any comprehension or understanding. Seeing alot of social media stuff and the thing that hits home is alot of people are simply thick to put it kindly asking the most stupidest questions.

Think of Ann Frank who was holed up in an attic for over 12 months with her family and people today moan that they can't go for a 20 mile bike ride or do this or that during which let's face is most likely going to be one of the worst events for centuries and all you need to do is stay in the house for a few months.

Thank goodness for those people have shown courage in other people's time of need.

Tim.

Anybody that thinks it is ok to go about your normal daily business needs to take a look at what is happening right now in Spain. They are taking ventilators away from anybody over the age of 65 and holding their hands while they die as their family cannot be with them.
Stop being selfish. Only go out if you need to.

Mines much cheaper.

We had another revised mortgage payment letter through today. It's now 3.3 pence per day for our home. :D We don't pay it off as it's apparently better for your credit rating to just pay the interest. Mad crazy world.

Glad I am not the only one with these feelings the roads outside my house are still busy with people out and about in cars people going to the park with whole family a football and the dog and I am only 30 mins drive from the ExCel centre and we all know whats going in there :(

To reply to the posted topic. Yes you can. I enjoyed a great roof down drive to Tavistock and back today, on some of my favourite bone dry twisties, with hardly another car in sight.

Turns out the ///MR had a worn inner on one of the front tyres picked up at the MoT. So after no joy locally for MPSS or MPS4s I needed to drive to ATS in Tavi for a new set of MP4S';s. I felt strangely guilty, but soon got over it once the engine was warmed through. :driving: :D

Could be a while before the next drive like that.

Well.. I thought it was obvious, because you could break down, have an accident & it's very tempting to stop off.

It might not be long before we're painting red crosses on the door if you see what's being built at the London Excel centre

Now they're heavily criticising people for walking in the National Parks https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52062209 - you've been asked... well told not to go out...

In France the fine went EUR35, EUR135 to EUR3500 for offenders - & I heard an unconfirmed report you might even be instructed to abandon your car, handover your keys, be arrested & leave it there until the crisis is over...

Yes that was the first thought that crossed my mind. It was only one tyre. I have the other in the garage now as a come in handy along with a rear that came off a set when I had a puncture. a while back. Mrs G has good memory, first thing she said was, lucky you kept that other one you can get that fitted.

I felt bad telling her the front and rear wheels are a different size.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out why there was hardly another car in sight, does it! :poke:

Me and the current wife got out on the mtbs today from home for our daily once to exercise, as advised by BoJo. Been a year since she last used hers and mine has been lacking from an injury from being impaled on a tree branch last year taking a long while to heal . So, we did see a few people out on their daily exercise and all kept our distances , walking dogs and other cyclists. We took a meander down the kennet canal for 5 miles and then back again. Was really nice, albeit pretty chilly in the wind. She enjoyed it enough to say this could be the motivation to get on the bikes again. So, when we got back ( after pumping tyres up, even though they have stans sealant) was to order 4 new tyres from Merlin Cycles as they were all shot. Now charged up the electronic shifting battery for my road bike , so we can potentially use those tomorrow , while we wait for tyres. Except my daughter has nicked and killed all the water bottles. :headbang:
