Hi all-as above, ive yet to fit these but been thinking is it 'doable' without removing the front bumper?-thanks

Not sure it is, either way I think it would be quicker and easier to remove the bumper and fit these

Cheers mate- i thought as much -i was just trying to avoid the faff of replacing/aligning issues as i have seen on here

Don't know about pre-facelift but facelift ones can definitely be changed without removing the bumper. 10 minute job per side.

Yes, I've done it myself.

If you have the new lamps you can see the 3 fixings: 2 bolts accessed from the rear and a screw from the front. Just turn the wheel on full lock to open the access panel.

It helps to have small hands or press gang your 14 year old son as I did! :D

Thanks mate-i will give it a try first before i think about removing the bumper, thanks ranski -i may need to do it your way if my hands are too big!

Definitely don't remove the bumper as the risk of damage is too great for a job which can be done from inside the wheel arch.

Did you remove the bumber in the end andysat? Any issues?

Having to change my ballast for xenons. BMW quoted £500, so going to give it a go myself.

The ballast can be bought for £130 online, i replaced one recently. Do it yourself, no more than an hrs work, bumper and all. If you've had the bumper off before even quicker.

That's the plan T2FFN!

Going to change the headlight back as the seal looks shot. Just want to make sure I've got everything before I start it.

No i havent removed the bumper-going to try the 'through the wheel arch' method
Wish I could change the ballast that way. Don't bother faffing around with the wheel on, just jack it up and remove the wheel. When removing the cover in the wheel arch, use a 2pence or 50pence piece, otherwise it's very easy to maul the plastic head.
