Camera Gear. Post your setup!

I agree ref the lens if you talking about the big lens kits. The adaptors are good with other branded prime lens which was really my point. If you consider the a7r has the same sensor of the Nikon D800 in the body of a bridge camera, thats its advantage. You probably know that Sony make the Nikon sensors.

Primes are great but zooms offer more flexibility, they are also very close in terms of IQ now a days! But obviously very expensive. The problem with crop cameras is depth of field tho and any f2.8 lens is equivalent to F4 so if you want isolation primes are the only way to go.

The A series are great cameras but like I was saying in my previous post the 36mp is overkill for 90% of anything anyone shoots abd takes up a huge amount of space and brings even quick computers to a crawl, and the current E mount glass even the ziess primes can't resolve the sensor in the A7 let alone the almost double mp count in the 7R. With the high mp count people have been struggling to keep the camera still to get sharp images the higher the mp the more sensitive it is to movement so a doubling of shutter speed is often needed. Just hope they bring out some better glass at cheaper prices! The 70-200 F4 and 24-70 F4 at over 1K each is frankly a rip off for the quality they produce. If they come up with better faster glass il pick on up!

My Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L USM is now up for sale on ebay if anyone is interested

7DMKII seems to be confirmed.

Nothing new, big disappointment! Canon seems to be the most lacking in innovation in the whole marketplace atm.

Looks good shame it uses the same sensor as the 70D. But for the price nothing touches it.

Guess it is still the best crop sensor option to go for if you stick with Canon?

Certainly is.

Saying that the Sony A6000 is very similar and has better IQ, but lenses are expensive, not as good but is much smaller. Not great for motorsport as there are no lenses without an adapter. But better to walk around with.

Saying that I tried the A7 at the weekend and its not a touch on the 5DMKIII on anything but IQ and weight. Just couldn't get on with the electronic view finder, glass was soft and expensive, small but hard to handle. More to a camera than the IQ and handling AF and usability is just as important. It will sell like hotcakes just disappointed they didn't put some new sensor tech in it. Still with the Dual Digic 6 there will be a small upgrade in IQ over the 70D and you get an extra native stop up to 16,000ISO. Still wouldn't shoot past 1600 maybe 3200 on one. 6400 no problem on the 5D.

Really wish Canon would have a go at a mirrorless system FF camera, or make a 100D style FF camera for travellers.

Well i just picked up my new canon 70d. First impressions it isnt all too different to my old 60d, i would like the 7dm2 but looks a little big for me interms of using it for travelling.

What is it with the pre-order prices? The US is a fraction of the cost of what is advertised in the UK !!

With a price difference of only £300 between a 5DMK3 and a 7D MK2, is it worth going for the 5D instead?

I never buy from uk for that reason. Prices are insane. I buy everything from digital rev, I've bought countless gear over the last 8 years, free import with you within 4 days and a full worldwide 1 year warranty. I had a problem with a lens and they sent it to CPS had it repaired and sent it back to me turn around was 4 days brilliant service they have an office in the uk now which is really helpful.

Saved £1200 when I bought my 5D and 3 lenses.

Depends on how much it will cost for the equivalent lenses in FF. Also the 5DMKIII is half the speed but twice the IQ.

Currently jessops has the 5DMKIII at 2229 body only and the 7DMKII at 1599 body only so 630 difference for that you could buy a nice piece of glass.

I was looking at this for example:

Wow thats cheap.. cheaper than grey market. £150 cheaper and a 3 year warranty. Sounds dubious to me unless you've used them before?

From what I can tell, they import grey market and sell with a UK warranty similar to DR but are a lot cheaper.

Quick check, just seems the 5DMKIII is cheaper. Good price!

Google on reviews seems ok:

Never used them myself, but you can see that cost wise the 5D would be very, very similar to the 7D which is my dilemma then.

Depends how much it will be once its on the other sites, will be up later tonight I would say via HK time.

I recon £1100-1200

Went for the 5D in the end, with an expected price difference of £100 I could not see a benefit of having a crop sensor camera when the full fat version is virtually the same price.

Umm what about all your lens?

I am going to return my 70d and not sure what to get now.
