Looks like most of the spec for the 7DMKII, looks a great camera until I saw that Canon are most likely re-utilising 70Ds sensor. Was really hoping they would step up to the plate with a new sensor especially when the 20.2mp sensor is a slight design change to the crap 18mp sensor in every other Canon camera. sigh

Apart from the 10fps the 5DMKIII still looks a much better camera and its 2 years old.

Just hope those rumours aren't true.

Thanks Tom, was hoping for the GPS and WiFi though :(

Still in two minds between 5dIII and 7dII, but will wait for the spec to be finalised and the price of the 7 I guess to see if it is worthwhile compared to going for the full frame one.

Getting content off in gbs at a time via wifi would be a lot easier than using USB.

Wifi is useful but a little gimmicky, if you like to use the camera remotely then awesome but for image transfer for image sharing... i prefer editing my images first. GPS is really useful but both Wifi and GPS compromises build quality due to magnesium bodies ruining signal. Which is why I think they have left the swivel screen and the magnesium body as pro features for more durability.

Ah yes, forgot about the remote control! I guess that would be useful in a studio environment (but then you can have it controlled via cable)

If you do want wifi, get an eyefi sd card? That way you're not limiting the camera on the basis it doesn't have wifi on it.

No worries! There are a few sd cards now with built in wifi, though my thoughts, as they were on release, are still skeptical.

I rather a card reader and opt to import that way for editing purposes.

Which 70-200 do you have PVR?

Eyefi is useful, but they are expensive for limited storage, better used in a dual slot camera where you can write small JPGs to one and raw to another. Like the 5DMKIII because the SD slot runs at such a slow speed compared to the CF if your wanting to shoot a burst and have it write to a second card hampers write time and buffer.

Nice one monkadill how do you find it? Would like to buy one as a smaller option but the limited lenses has turned me off the idea.

Hi Tom,
I really like the a7, small, great sensor and the live View has helped me develop my photography skills as i am a novice. There is the Sony E mount and other after market mounts which allow the a7 take Leica, Canon and Nikon lens and the enthusiasts of the Sony all tend to use the mounts with other lens. The auto focus with moving pictures is one of its main draw backs but this hasn't effected me as i take landscape and portrait pictures. The Sony a7s has been well received and has an incredible ISO range. My previous camera was a Nikon D600 and i found it just to big.

Maybe small portable high end photography is coming full circle, i thought it was ironic this was the aim of Leica -

How do you find the 70-200 PVR? I'm torn between the f4 and the f2.8

Yes, I like the lens but the 2.8 was a little pricy so went for the F4. The only thing is that I find that 200 is often just not enough for what I want, but the 100-400 was delivered with the arc so I would not get that one at the moment and look for the replacement coming in September so I read.

But as far as a 70-200 goes, it does a nice job. If you are close, you can borrow mine.

Thanks for the offer.

I'm currently toying between the idea of a 70-200 or an 85mm prime (specifically the Sigma f1.4). Just holding out till their 85mm art comes out before I make my decision (as the current 85 would fall in price, or I could go for the art model instead

Ye I know you can get lens converters to take other lenses, but adding big lenses like Canon etc but ruins the point of the camera for me, its size is the main reason for buying and by adding the massive lenses makes it a little lighter but you get the bulk back. They do have a few lenses coming out tho I think, def need to try one out.

The F4 is a great lens but you can't beat the F2.8 if your struggling with cost of the MKII buy the MKI IS F2.8  70-200MM MKII IS MY fav lens.

BTW I have a 70-200mm MKI F2.8 non IS if your interested

Been keeping it as a back up incase I have a problem with the MKII

Yeah, I really would love a zoom tele but as of date, I'm yet to truly justify using one.

I picked up a 24-105 around the time of the Olympics and was really excited to have a zoom coming from my 30mm prime but the novelty soon wore thin and I found myself reaching for the 30 prime time and time again.

I used to have a whole array of fixed lenses as well, but unfortunately all stolen from my office on one of the burglaries and the insurance did not cover it.

With the breakdown of the 20d, I am just having a good look around for new stuff but it sure has moved on since I last seriously looked.
