White, I find a good vacuum and a spray of Fabreeze does the trick.

Just replace it. It'll be clogged full of dirt and bacteria.

Changing the microfilter is part of all the annual services.
BTW, after mine was done once, by the local BMW dealer, I started getting some rattles from the glove box area. Later found that the bottom hinges on the glove box had 'broken' ... and had to replace the glove box to stop the noise (luckily, I had a spare glove box :roll: ). I suppose I should have raised the matter with them, but very difficult to point the finger after the fact.
BTW, after mine was done once, by the local BMW dealer, I started getting some rattles from the glove box area. Hi mine was full of leaves and i mean full.had go get my hand in and get them all out then use the vac.4 dust pans of leaves god nos how that got in they are only little grills above.my previous onwer must have been parked near or underneath trees all the time.
